Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Leadership Giving:
Manage a portfolio of ~100 donors at the $10k-$25k level and identify new prospects with major gift capacity ($50k+).
Work collaboratively between Annual and Major Gift teams to build pipeline of major gift donors and determine next steps and engagement opportunities for major gift prospects.
Develop and implement overall strategies for identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship, with the goal of upgrading donors to the $50k+ level.
Support the management of BGCB’s Friends Council/Young Leaders affinity group, consisting of the next generation of philanthropic families and emerging community leaders in Boston. Collaborate with events and marketing teams to plan and execute Friends Council events and engagement opportunities throughout the year.
Secure at least five face-to-face donor and prospect visits a month.
Planned Giving:
In partnership with the VP of Development, continue to grow BGCB’s comprehensive planned giving program by identifying, cultivating, and soliciting planned gifts, including bequests, trusts, life-income gifts, and alternative/complex assets. Serve as an in-house planned giving resource for fundraising staff and volunteer solicitors. Collaborate closely with other members of the Development team to integrate planned giving into the cultivation and solicitation cycles for potential donors and their families.
Prepare timely and complete gift proposals and illustrations, bequest language and other gift agreements to secure deferred gifts. Work with donors, their advisors/attorneys, and BGCB’s Finance and General Counsel to finalize gift terms and transfer assets to BGCB.
Develop compelling educational materials—in partnership with Annual Giving, Marketing, and external vendors—to inspire donors on the financial benefits of planned gifts. Support the management of BGCB’s planned giving recognition society, the Frederic C. Church, Sr. Legacy Society through annual events and personalized touchpoints throughout the year. Stay up to date on planned giving trends and latest tax implication for various planned gift opportunities.
General:
Maintain a thorough understanding of Club programming and BGCB’s mission and work to develop personalized and creative funding proposals for donors. Prepare materials for the Board of Trustees Leadership Council and Development Committee as needed. Actively seek and manage donor engagement activities at BGCB Clubs and attend events. Partner with Annual Giving colleagues, Major Gifts, and Donor Relations team on donor recognition and retention strategies via giving societies (i.e., Champion’s Society- $10k+). Oversee internal donor tracking and moves management for portfolio and prospect pool in Raiser’s Edge NXT (actions, briefings, contact reports, strategic next steps, proposals).
Position Requirements (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Work Demands)
Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 3 years of fundraising experience with record of soliciting legacy gifts. Strong people skills and ability to work collaboratively with other development team members, senior management, club directors, board members, volunteers, and staff at all levels. Proven ability to make decisions and work independently and as a team player. Eagerness to solve unexpected challenges. Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and confidentiality. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in standard software applications, including Development CRM. Attend and staff various agency and outside events as part of the Development Team. Motivated to work in a fast-paced and energetic environment requiring some early morning, evening, and weekend work. Behavior Team Player:
