*Full-Time Opportunity! Monday - Friday (8am-4:30pm)*

_\*Experience in EMR systems_

_\*Knowledge of medical terminology preferred_

_\*Knowledge of HIPAA privacy laws preferred_

*General Summary:* Processes medical-legal documents, insurance data, and correspondence requests, in conformance with federal, state, local statutes, healthcare system and department protocol. Utilizes computerized health information system. Operates computer to process, compile, maintain and retrieve health information. Involves answering patient calls, accessing records in EMR system, and directing patients on how to records in the patient portal.

*Essential Duties: ** Performs filing, sorting, organizing of patient records, information, and mail.* Answer heavy volume of incoming phone calls.* Request patient medical records for provision of supporting documentation for billing collection purposes.* Provides exceptional customer service abilities towards patients and colleagues.* Multitasking and managing multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced work environment.* Ability to work alongside and with a team.* Knowledge of state, federal, local and company legal protocols and process of medical record keeping.* Adhere to HIPAA regulations and obligations of law regarding patient information.

*Marginal Duties: ** Perform general clerical duties.* Maintain office and desk space clean and organized.* Contributes to a positive and caring workplace culture.

*Education: ** High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED).* Higher education accepted, not required.

*Experience/Qualifications: ** Minimum one year of experience in a medical records position preferred.* Minimum one year of experience working in a medical facility or related field.

*Performance Requirements: **Knowledge:

** Knowledge of health care field and medical office protocols/procedures.* Knowledge of individual responsibilities to adhere to HIPAA regulations.* Knowledge of basic medical office practice operations is preferred.

*Skills: ** Ability to use multi-line phone system, including transferring calls.* Ability to follow direction, organize, and prioritize tasks at hand.* Ability to speak clearly and articulate to be heard by callers and patients.

*Abilities: ** Listens carefully and elicits appropriate information to check in patients, route calls, and direct patients efficiently and courteously.* Prevents, calms, or defuses irate callers and patients by working with them to identify concerns and properly resolve problems
