PMC: Vice President, Associate General CounselPenske Media, the publisher of world-renowned media brands including Rolling Stone, Billboard, Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, IndieWire, Deadline Hollywood, Robb Report, ArtNews, Artforum, SHE Media, BGR, TVLine, Fairchild Media Group and Sportico, is looking for a Vice President, Associate General Counsel to be based in our Los Angeles office. Reporting directly to the Company’s Senior Vice President, Deputy General Counsel, the Vice President, Associate General Counsel will be responsible for handling a wide variety of legal matters that arise within the Company’s Entertainment digital media and live media businesses, as well as the ability to work with the Company’s multi-faceted corporate departments including the Company’s Technology, IT and Procurement departments.This is a unique opportunity to join a fun, fast-scaling, mission-oriented company with a highly collaborative Legal team that values new ideas, creative thinking, knowledge-sharing, and a commitment to business partnership. The ideal candidate must be a pro-active, dynamic, self-starter with a strong work ethic and ability to multi-task, handling a large volume of work and balancing competing demands of numerous businesses while maintaining exacting attention to detail.ResponsibilitiesCounseling business unit leaders, editors, sales and marketing teams and others on a wide range of issues relating to digital media and publishing, including intellectual property, data privacy, consumer marketing laws and advertising law.Structuring, drafting, reviewing and negotiating all manner of commercial agreements including sponsorship, custom content, sales, marketing and a wide variety of other strategic and operational agreements.Working closely with the Company’s live media and event production teams on execution of their events strategy and implementing appropriate risk management procedures.Collaborating with the Company’s Technology, IT and Procurement teams to structure form agreements and negotiate and execute enterprise agreements and strategic tech transactions, and a wide range of procurement agreements.Serve on the Company’s privacy team.Manage claims and litigations arising from clients.Developing, maintaining and ensuring compliance with the Company’s policies, procedures and standards.Assisting with all other legal matters relating to the Company’s various businesses.The ideal candidate will also provide pre-publication review of editorial content and advice regarding defamation and copyright ownership, rights of publicity and privacy.Required Skills and ExperienceMinimum 10-12 years of legal experience in a law firm and/or corporate legal department with both a strong transactional/commercial background as well as experience with the programmatic advertising ecosystem, procurement and technology transactions.Experience working with digital media and/or programmatic agencies strongly preferred.Experience counseling and advising business unit leaders and department heads and members of their teams on all manner of legal and business issues.Good working knowledge of the programmatic advertising ecosystem, and data privacy/data security law and compliance.Ability to think strategically, commercially, and practically.Ability to work autonomously and independently, in tight timeframes in a fast-paced, high-performance environment while being able to contribute successfully to cross-functional teams.Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written).Strong analytical capabilities and an ability to execute sound business judgment in the absence of perfect information.High degree of professional ethics and integrity.Juris Doctor and membership in good standing in California.Typical wage range: $240k - $255k + annual discretionary bonus.
