Position Overview:
Astria Therapeutics is dedicated to bringing hope with life-changing therapies to patients and families affected by allergic and immunological diseases. Astria’s pipeline includes our lead program, STAR-0215, a monoclonal antibody inhibitor of plasma kallikrein in clinical development for the treatment of hereditary angioedema, as well as STAR-0310, an OX40 monoclonal antibody antagonist currently in pre-clinical development for atopic dermatitis (AD) and being explored for other allergic and immunological diseases.
The Senior/Executive Director Field Medical Affairs is the leader of the field-based team. The individual provides therapeutic area expertise to develop the medical affairs field plan, aligned with medical strategy. The incumbent provides input into medical affairs activities, inclusive of high quality scientific and strategic communications and scientific congress coverage. The position partners with cross-functional leaders, contributing to key decisions for products and development opportunities.
Responsibilities:
Build, manage, and mentor the field based MSL team.
Develop and ensure execution of the field medical plan.
Create strategic territory plans and metrics that align MSL activities with medical affairs objectives.
Gather field insights and develop actionable reports to inform medical strategy.
Collaborate with Medical Affairs leadership team to provide input to overall medical affairs strategy.
Develop MSL training materials and facilitate MSL team training.
Identify and cultivate relationships and partnerships with external stakeholders.
Oversee MSL KOL engagement with key thought leaders in academic and community medicine at the local, regional, and national levels.
Effective cross-functional collaboration with internal and field facing teams to provide scientific expertise and medical support within Clinical Development, Advocacy, and Commercial.
Effectively deliver scientific presentations to diverse audiences.
Participate in national and regional scientific meetings.
Lead cross functional sub-teams responsible for discrete projects within the therapeutic area.
Perform and complete administrative responsibilities, including reporting requirements in a timely fashion.
Adherence to all company regulatory and compliance policies.
Provide leadership and personal development to direct reports.
Other duties as periodically assigned.
Qualifications:
Advanced scientific or healthcare related degree (MD/DO, PharmD, PhD, or equivalent) with 10-12 years of professional experience
Minimum of 5 years of field Medical Affairs experience
Field Medical Leadership required
Prior launch experience required
Ability to think strategically to guide medical data dissemination related activities
Demonstrated strategic acumen with ability to translate strategy into an actionable plan
Excellent written, verbal, and communication skills
Demonstrated ability to identify, engage, and educate HCPs
Ability to work across multi-disciplinary groups and to lead decision-making discussions.
Ability to work independently, prioritize complex information, and problem solve
A minimum of 50% travel is required.
