Production Manager positionmight be for you:In this crucial role, you'll oversee day-to-day operations in designated production departments. You'll be responsible for ensuring our products are manufactured efficiently, meeting (and exceeding!) quality standards and on-time delivery.The Production Manager works directly with the Vice President of Operations to create the short and long term goals for departments, develop and maintain training programs and establish, document and maintain workflow systems and procedures.

Summary of PositionThe Senior Production Manager is responsible for overseeing all day to day operations in designated production departments. They are responsible for the overall manufacturing of products and management of staff in said areas.

The Senior Production Manager is responsible for overseeing operations in designated production departments and assists the VP with strategic decision making and business analytics across the Lab. Responsible for the overall manufacturing of products and management of staff. Works directly with the VP of Operations to create the short- and long-term goals for departments, develop data analytics, software enhancements and/or overhaul of workflow/system’s needs. You'll oversee training and documentation and be responsible for ensuring the safety of the production staff and for using standard operating procedures to build a quality product.

You'll have ownership for shipping products on-time by managing people, capacity, material, schedules, and resolving any roadblocks. It will be key for the Senior Production Manager to be responsible for managing labor, overtime, and yield to meet cost goals. The finalist will be instrumental in planning, scheduling, and introducing new products into their value stream.

Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerformance to Metrics

Ensure products are produced efficiently, while meeting or exceeding on-time delivery, safety standards, material availability, quality expectations and staffing levels.Propose and/or oversee creation of production related SOP’s. Observe production workflows and ensure that agreed upon SOP’s are in place and being maintained.Review daily incoming volume data and conduct physical observation of orders in each department to gauge department needs for meeting daily goals.Respond to Sales and Customer inquiries in a timely manner and with a can-do approach. Be an ambassador for operations helping the company win and retain customers.Conduct systems analysis for driving results. Help design, capture and measure Production performance and assist IT with software migrations, integrations and analysis of data driven resultsContinuous Improvement

Fully implement and Manage MDI Board Gemba board measurements KPI’s (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost) and identify action plans for all problems identified. Participate in the site Gemba walks and drive line of site adherence to the work cell level.Develop a SOP that monitors by the hour performance of all lean cells and support processes.Identify and implement process improvements and cost reduction projects. Work with the team to find solutions to problems and implement changes.Work with Engineering on all new product introductions. Work to be sure the production is ready for the new introductions.Ensuring good communication between department Supervisors and Leads to drive root cause analysis and reduce repeat process breakdowns.Work with the VP of Operations on resource planning and additions for the future.Performs regular evaluations of the materials and equipment used in production and makes recommendations for upgrades or alternative options.Report any equipment malfunctions or concerns to the Maintenance Manager and actively work to find a workaround and/or substitutes and temporary solutions.Through observation and regular communication with staff, identify and address all safety concerns.Employee Development and Commitment

Monitor performance of all direct reports and indirect reports via Supervisors. Produce timely written performance warnings, working with HR and consistently and frequently conduct follow ups for closure or additional actions.Understand and apply basic employment related legal requirements and consult with HR to ensure full compliance including at minimum; staffing, employee relations matters, harassment prevention, accurate time reporting, discipline, ADA, and ensure all actions are reviewed to result in anti-discriminatory resultsSchedule and facilitate regular department meetings to review department status, staffing, safety reminders and goals.Monitor production workflows and chase down any delays to expedite daily shippingProactively seek out opportunities for improving work workflows and efficiency of employeesDevelop and monitor training programs for every department task.Validate training methods by active involvement in the training process and measuring results.Collaborate with VP Operations to establish performance metrics and measure individual performance: output, quality, teamwork output, quality, teamwork, and professionalismDetermine required skills and competencies for each production position.Collaborate with Human Resources to develop job descriptions and update job descriptions as positions change and evolve.Interview and select the most qualified candidates.Work in conjunction with Production Managers to create and implement cross training programs.Provide on the fly support to all levels of staff within the areas of responsibility by regular, positive interaction.Other Duties

Through observation and regular communication with staff, identify and address all security of photographic images concerns.Establish and maintain a continuous line of communication with Customer Service to gather feedback on customer satisfaction.Work with the VP of Operations to provide reports on the overall status and health of production departments.Report to the VP of Operations on the daily work status, staff issues and ongoing projects.Requirements, Knowledge, Skills and Ability

Physical Requirements

Moving about to accomplish tasks, including extensive walking between departments.Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations, business, or related field;

or

equivalent combination of education and experience.7 years’ experience in a manufacturing, packaging and/or production environment.10+ years’ progressive leadership, supervisory, and/or management experience.

Experience with product manufacturing or high-speed packaging equipment.Proven experience using analytical skills for decision makingProficient in commonly used software programs: Microsoft Word, Excel, and prefer LabWorks, DP2.In depth knowledge of IT systems, usage, implementation, analysis, and design/improvement of software support in the management of revenue, quality, delivery and measurement systems

Base Salary Range : $100,000- 120,000 annually

Reports ToVice President, OperationsWork Hours: 8am-5pm Mon-Friday in our Scotts Valley production facility
