HackerWeb
Senior Backend Engineer
HackerWeb, San Francisco, California, United States, 94199
About the roleHiring a senior backend engineer to join our team and focus on system architecture behind a lot of our most popular products.
Things you'll be working on
Architecting and implementing backend systems in Typescript/Node is the core of what you’ll be doing. Real examples include:
Designing and building an ingestion pipeline for Replo Analytics (> 99.99% uptime on Kafka, Clickhouse, Redis)
Building out an A/B testing platform (Cloudflare)
Spiking on our CI platform to improve stability
Deploying a multi-tenant NextJS app to render pages on Cloudflare and automatically revalidate in response to queued webhook handlers
Mentoring junior engineers on best practices
Looking for someone who
Can be hybrid in San Francisco.
Has deep knowledge in distributed systems and SOA — load balancers, databases, queuing, caching, HTTP, APIs, high-availability, fault tolerance, redundancy, at-least-two-of-everything.
Is down to do full-stack work (including frontend even if it's not your main role).
Is ALWAYS SHIPPING. We don't spend weeks planning features at Replo.
Has 4+ years of professional experience with production distributed systems, service-oriented architecture.
Proficient in Typescript. If you have experience writing these systems in Python/Go/Java, that’s cool too, as long as you’re willing to learn Typescript/Node.
Has a product and customer-focused mindset.
Has experience being burned by deployment and maintenance issues.
Values writing clean, maintainable software, including documentation.
Is comfortable with ambiguity and defining software architecture patterns to solve customer pain points.
Bonus points if you
Have started a company before.
Enjoy attending hackathons.
Worked at an early-stage (Series A or earlier) startup previously.
Have not wasted hours interview-prepping on Leetcode.
Have an eye for visual design (or past experience in product design, Figma, etc).
The salary range offered depends on a variety of factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location. In addition to the salary, a performance bonus and long-term incentives may be provided as part of the compensation package, as well as a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
Replo is committed to equal employment opportunities regardless of race, color, genetic information, creed, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, lawful alien status, national origin, age, marital status, and non-job related physical or mental disability, or protected veteran status. Pursuant to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, we will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.
