Under the direction of the Technical Service Manager, the Linux Administrator performs highly complex (senior level) systems administration work. Responsible for rigorously developing solution architectures, seeking practical solutions that optimize and re-use capabilities. Responsible for designing and building solutions that best meet business needs and that are aligned with the IT strategy and roadmaps. The Linux Administrator is an excellent technologist and has a passion for understanding and learning. Responsible for bringing good hands-on skills in key technologies and possessing the ability to rapidly assess new technologies. Will play an integral role in building the teams skillset while demonstrating leadership values through delegation, motivation, and trust. Provides end-user assistance, issue resolution and reinstallation services in support of computers, applications, peripherals, and devices. Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Completion of sixty semester hours from an accredited college or university. Experience: Five years full-time experience in Unix or Linux systems administration; Two years of experience in Linux based servers related to system configuration and troubleshooting, monitoring and performance optimization, security management, and disaster recovery planning. Licensure: Must possess or be able to obtain, within 30 days of employment, a valid class state drivers license. ACCEPTABLE SUBSTITUTIONS: Education: One additional year of the required experience in Unix or Linux systems administration may substitute for thirty semester hours of the required education, with a maximum substitution of sixty semester hours.
