Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesAble to perform entry level set-upsUnderstand the speeds and feeds pertaining to the machine they are operating (where applicable)Knowledge of all measuring instruments and gages for their operationAble to speak effectively before groups of co-workers, customers, auditors, etc.Able to read and interpret blue printsWorking knowledge in manufacturing and quality processes and principlesAble to comply to all SPC daily Requirements (if applicable)Able to understand and maintain machine complements (when applicable)LOTO certifiedUnderstanding of cutting tools (and offset geometry)Thorough understanding of SPC knowledge & mathematical skillsPerform first piece verification process per part numberAbility to Perform Autonomous MaintenanceAssists in set up and operation of all standard & specialized machinesAssists in machine set upExposure to hand fed HAAS & automatics Takamaz

Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS) is seeking a CNC Operator for the Fullerton, CA site. HFS is a business unit of Howmet Aerospace, headquartered in Torrance, California. We hold the number one global position in aerospace fastening systems, and we're the North American leader in commercial transportation fasteners. Our high-tech, multi-material fastening systems are found nose to tail on aircraft and aerospace engines. Our products are also critical components of industrial gas turbines, automobiles, commercial transportation vehicles, and construction and industrial equipment.
Performs precision operation and set-up on CNC Grinders Milling machines, and Lathes, and runs manual support equipment.Able to resolve tooling manufacturing issues causing quality errors and slowdowns.Able to use complex fixtures for work holding on all machines.Must be able to teach and train others on numerous CNC and conventional machines.Able to complete one off jobs to exacting tolerances without direct supervision.Maintains a clean and orderly workplace in accordance with 5S standardsActive involvement in Autonomous Maintenance program Perform Preventative Maintenance per daily scheduleResponsible for producing and maintaining high level quality partsComplete a first piece verification form per part numberPerform Lock/Out Tag/Out (LOTO)Check all work with appropriate measuring tools, make offsets and edits as required Assist with training and development of entry level operatorsActive involvement in continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
Able to read and interpret documents as well as blueprints, and micrometers, to work from process drawings and sketches, and perform SPCOperate CNC grinders, mills, and lathes , can set-up difficult surface and cylindrical fixtures on machines.Excellent troubleshooting skills, and good communication skillsWilling to cross train and/or assist other departments to meet facility goalsUse the necessary measuring tools (Micrometers, Calipers, Dial Indicators, Comparator, Gages, etc) as requiredThis position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee
Physical Demands:
Must be able to lift/move 30 lbs. (may not exceed per EHS policies)Must be able to stand for long periods of time
Preferrred Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED equivalentThree to 5 years' experience in CNC machining Fastener aerospace experienceMastercam programming experience
