Job Description:aPerform blood collection requiring knowledge of clinical science to understand the multiplicity of tests and specimen requirements, the mechanics of venipuncture and patient preparation.bPerform phlebotomy to obtain patient specimens for laboratory testing including blood cultures and compatibility samples.cAccession and receive samples into Client laboratory information system package for in house testing or send outs to reference laboratories.dInstruct patients in proper collection of 24-hour urine and other samples collected at home.ePrepare collection, measure, and record 24-hour urine volumes.fTransport specimens to the laboratory including those requiring special handling.gLook up laboratory order numbers and patient information for outpatient draws.hUse numbering system to check patients into the laboratory.iAnswer phone and direct calls to other laboratory sectionsjEstablish and maintain effective interpersonal skills and good customer relations withPatients, Families, and all other Medical Center Employees.kProvide general clerical and administrative support for the area.lStock and maintain specialized supplies used in the drawing area
Required:
Experience: Minimum one-year experienceHigh school diploma or equivalent.Basic Life Support BLS (CPR)
