A large system in Nebraska/Iowa are looking for ICU RN's. 12 hour shifts, 36 hours guaranteed. 2 years of unit experience. 13 Week contract.Job Requirements
2 years of unit experience.Able to titrate drips: YesCommon titratable &/or set rate drips: Vasopressors, paralytics, narcotics, sedation, antiarrhythmicsCharge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment?: Yes- will attend RRTs and CodesRNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors?: No techs- Draeger heart monitoring with centralized telemetry monitoring. RNs need to be able to read and interpret.Schedule Information
12 hour shifts: 0630-1830, 1830-0630.Weekend Requirements: Every otherHoliday Requirements: Every other or as needed for based on unit needsFloating Requirements: Will float to all inpatient units, excluding Maternity/NICUHow many shifts of unit/department specific orientation?: 2 shiftsUnit Specific Information
# of Beds: 34Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:1-2 ICU, 1:4 PCUCommon diagnoses/Types of patients: Adults and Peds >15 years old, Neuro surgery, Respiratory failure, ARDS, MODS, sepsis, stroke, cardiogenic shock (impella, balloon pump - not required exp.), renal failure (CRRT) - not required exp., general surgery, psych/OD, GI bleeds, cancer specific surgeries - esophagectomy, internal chemo administration, CVPs, Alines, Swans, EV-1000, ICP monitoring- all can train real time, Zoll -Thermoguard for hypothermia protocol, Bell Mont rapid transfuserAre there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties?: Yes- 1:18RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, etc.) Are RNs required to do anything with these besides trouble shoot?: Nasal cannula to ventsScrub Color/Dress Code: Navy BlueAdditional Details
Fast paced unit with volume flexes due to being primary tertiary hospital for the system. Attributes that will make a nurse successful on this unit are the ability ask questions, a positive attitude, willingness to help others, critical thinking skills, personable, and positive attitude. Have a team environment meant to foster high quality care and work with attendings and student providers (fellows, residents) to collaborate on care.Radius Rule: 50 miles AND candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity.RTO needed upfront (7 or less days per 13 week contract). Additional RTO will not be approved, including after submissions.
