Responsibilities
Job Summary / Purpose
Transport patients to and from requested care areas. Assists patients as necessary during transport. Identifies patients' needs and implements appropriate interventions. Provides patient and family with support while transporting. Works in cooperation with staff from other patient care areas to facilitate patient care. Displays a positive image by demonstrating courteous and professional behavior towards patients, physicians, visitors, volunteers and other employees. Provides patient care/services based on identified needs/developmental level for all patient populations, care/services may include assessment of individual patient need; incorporation of age-specific characteristics in patient education, communication, and planning; provision of individualized care relevant to patient needs; and recognition, monitoring, and provision of interventions as appropriate.
Essential Key Job ResponsibilitiesVerifies requisition and patient I.D. bracelet prior to transporting pt. to departmentTransports patients to and from the appropriate care areas using the appropriate method of transportation.Maintains the cleanliness of carts, stretchers, wheelchairs and other transportation equipment, and monitors equipment to ensure proper working order.Assists staff in the movement of patients from stretchers, wheel chairs, or beds.Complies with Hospital/Department/Unit policies.Documents activities consistent with Hospital/Department/Unit Guidelines to include keeping accurate logs of patient transport.Replenishes supplies used in transporting patients; Maintain organized holding area including stretchers, wheelchairs, slide boards, linens, and oxygen tanks.Understands process for reporting damaged equipment to Bio-Med (applies red stickers to damaged or broken equipment).Other duties as assigned.
