U.S. Bank is seeking an experienced attorney with renewable energy experience to join the Law Division to support the Environmental Finance business team, which provides project financing, tax equity investments and tax equity syndications for renewable energy projects. The Environmental Finance team is a business line within U.S. Bancorp Impact Finance and the successful candidate will report directly to the Chief Counsel of Impact Finance and engage in meaningful collaboration with the broader Law Division team that supports Impact Finance.Primary ResponsibilitiesLead legal advisor to Environmental Finance business teamDocument or manage outside counsel on project finance, tax equity investment, and syndicated finance transactions for renewable energy projectsConduct legislative research related to the renewable energy industry and provide policy analysis and advocacy on behalf of Impact Finance, as neededNegotiate engagement agreements for transaction advisory servicesProvide monitoring-period legal adviceMaintain ancillary form agreement templates and related internal processes and proceduresAdvise non-lawyer client groups on complex contractual provisionsAssist in maintenance of compliance with bank regulatory requirements applicable to renewable energy transactions with training and supportRespond to litigation matters of limited complexity that affect the Environmental Finance business lineLocation ExpectationsThe role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.Basic Qualifications- Licensed by and in good standing with the appropriate state bar association or other appropriate state attorney licensing authorityPreferred Skills/ExperienceEight or more years of renewable energy project finance or tax equity finance experience at a law firm or in-house legal groupAbility or potential to implement equitable practices into daily workCommitment to continuous improvement in systems and processesDemonstrated experience with, or potential to gain current knowledge of, state and federal tax credit laws and regulations and commercial lending lawsAbility to collaborate confidently and effectively with a diverse range of stakeholdersExperience managing other legal professionals and working with outside counselExcellent attention to detailSolutions orientedExcellent oral and written communication skillsAbility to work effectively as an individual and as part of a multi-disciplinary teamAbility to lead tasks with minimal oversight after receiving trainingDesire to learn and to solve complex and novel problemsCommitment to legal ethics and ethical business practicesWillingness to respond to written and oral interview questionsSuccessful candidates for a position in the U.S. Bank Law Division support U.S. Bank’s core values, which guide what we do every day:- We do the right thing.- We power potential.- We stay a step ahead.- We draw strength from diversity.- We put people first.In the U.S. Bank Law Division, we honor those values through our mission: “we guide our clients to remarkable results with expert legal counsel and ethical leadership.” Our commitment is evident in the work we do, not only for the Bank, but for our communities.
