Project Description:
The intern will gain valuable insights into the public utility space and the dynamics of an enterprise learning organization through this experience. Here's what they can expect to learn:
The intern will immerse themselves in the world of public power utilities. They'll learn about the unique challenges, regulatory frameworks, and community-focused approach that define this sector.By participating in day-to-day tasks, the intern will gain firsthand experience in utility operations. This includes understanding how power generation, distribution, and customer service function within the organization.Working closely with various teams, the intern will learn how utilities collaborate with local governments, community partners, and other stakeholders. They'll witness the intricate balance between serving the public and maintaining operational efficiency.Exposure to high-level decision-making processes will be a key learning point. The intern will observe how utility leaders analyze data, assess risks, and make informed choices to enhance service delivery.Public utilities are embracing technology for efficiency and sustainability. The intern will explore innovations such as smart grids, renewable energy integration, and data analytics.Crafting impactful presentations and communications for leadership will sharpen the intern's ability to convey complex ideas effectively. They'll learn how to bridge technical knowledge with clear messaging.Additionally, through mentorship and networking the intern will discover potential career paths within the utility sector. Whether in engineering, policy, or community relations, they'll gain insights into diverse roles.As an intern in our department, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our learning technology strategy. Typical intern responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
Dive into our existing learning technology stack.Analyze its effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.Provide valuable insights to inform strategic decisions.Contribute to persuasive business proposals aligned with our vision.Create impactful presentations and communications for leadership.Engage with directors, VPs, and senior leaders.Gain hands-on experience across tactical and high-level processes.Participate in operational tasks related to learning technology.Prepare for future roles through exposure to decision-making processes.This position is for a May 2025. These positions may have the possibility to extend beyond the internship's initial term based on the candidate's successful performance and Xcel's business needs.
Minimum Requirements
Current student, Junior status or higherAble to commute to the
corporate office in Minneapolis, MN.Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week).Work Model: HybridComputer literacyKnowledge of all Microsoft 365 toolsBasic comprehension of Training and Learning systems
