ABOUT THIS JOB
As an Engineering Manager at Opaque Systems, you effectively partner with all levels of leadership. You will collaborate with Product, Marketing, R&D, and business line customers across the company to build consensus. You design mechanisms to drive consistent execution, tracking, reporting, and escalation for leadership and EMs within the organization. You will represent, verbally and in writing, complex decisions, tough trade-offs, and potential solutions clearly to leaders to help them understand the decisions they have to make and what options they have. You will own and deliver WBRs, MBRs, QBRs, and OP1s while influencing organizational priorities, system owners, business, and technology direction. You manage cross-functional and cross-product communication to ensure all stakeholders are informed and need to be aligned. You recognize when current programs are susceptible to prior failure patterns and actively steer leadership to avoid repeating these failures. You know when a design or solution requires additional technical guidance (e.g., from senior engineers or subject matter experts). You show excellent judgment in driving executive-level escalations.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and own processes to engage with strategic partners, influencing stakeholders to drive the adoption of Opaque’s products.
Manage stakeholders and coordinate cross-team, cross-org, and cross-product dependencies for the next generation of Opaque’s products.
Oversee and continuously improve the Engineering Quarterly Product Planning and Workback process.
Coordinate cross-product and cross-team dependencies as the organization transitions to a domain-based structure.
Manage product intake requests, aligning them with scientific goals and driving consensus.
Proactively address problems, remove blockers, and escalate high-priority issues with clear, well-documented communication.
Basic Qualifications
10+ years of engineering experience
3+ years of engineering team management experience
6+ years of planning, designing, developing and delivering consumer software experience
Experience partnering with product or program management teams
Experience managing multiple concurrent programs, projects and development teams in an Agile environment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience designing and developing large-scale, high-traffic applications
Understanding of machine learning, statistical modeling, and data analytics.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities
The pay range for this role is:160,000 - 200,000 USD per year(Remote - United States)
