Who We Are

Health Information Technology & Services (HITS) plays a pivotal role in the success of Michigan Medicine by providing clinicians, educators, researchers, students, and staff with technology-related information, products, and support. HITS also provides institutional expertise related to IT strategy, security, infrastructure, and resource management.

The HITS Enterprise Data & Information Services (EDIS) division collaborates with partners throughout Michigan Medicine, the University of Michigan, and the state of Michigan, to create data resources which can be used across the enterprises. Their work enables strategic, data-driven decisions by leaders, researchers, clinicians, educators, and administrators. EDIS provides services across the clinical, education, research, and administrative mission domains and is organized around the following core capabilities: Data Foundations, Analytics, Health Information Exchange, and Enterprise Data Solutions.

Job Summary

The Data & Analytics Platforms Administration Team at Michigan Medicine is seeking a candidate to fulfill the role of Senior Enterprise Data Analyst. The team curates, integrates, and maintains enterprise data in support of our mission to provide the highest quality patient care, research, and medical education. The team provides excellent customer support to our academic, research, clinical and revenue cycle customers.

The successful candidate is one that loves working with data and building-data driven solutions in a collaborative and energetic team. They will work with a team of application administrators, data architects, and analysts to provide Epic build support to Michigan Medicine's clinical, academic, business users, and data architects. They will play a vital role in designing & developing enterprise data warehouse assets, recommend documentation standards, policies, and procedures for data and analytics applications.

Responsibilities*

Engage with customers to understand business challenges and objectives.

Formulate and define project scope and objectives based on both user needs and a good understanding of applicable business systems and industry requirements.

Devise or modify processes and procedures to solve complex problems.

Translate user requirements into actionable system specifications

Analyze, test, and validate data structures for accuracy and completeness.

Consult with customers in the effective use of enterprise data and analytics platforms.

Recommend and adhere to document standards, policies, and procedures.

Ability to work in a dynamic development environment, adjust to frequently changing priorities, and be able to multi-task.

Collaborate effectively with management, team members, and colleagues across the Academic Medical Center.

Plan and facilitate meetings with diverse participants and lead collaborations between teams.

Develop operational reports and presentations.

Required Qualifications*

Senior Level Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

5+ years professional experience

Intermediate Level Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

2-3 years professional experience

Desired Qualifications*

Minimum 5 years of demonstrated experience in a related role requiring confidentiality, timeliness, customer service, organization, prioritization, troubleshooting, and working independently.

Experience working with the Epic EMR Application.

Experience with healthcare clinical and revenue cycle business processes.

Experience with relational databases such as Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server.

Experience in technical query writing and data integration skills using SQL.

Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and demonstrated competency to work effectively on a team.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Experience with report development and data visualization.

Proficient with Microsoft Excel.

Experience with the full software development lifecycle including requirements analysis, design, implementation, quality assurance testing and documentation.

Experience supporting finance operations.

Experience with cloud-hosted application and data management platforms.

Experience resolving complex data integration issues involving multiple technologies and business areas.

Experience performing analytics on large healthcare data or large enterprise data stores.

Experience creating and supporting data driven solutions to support academic or business or clinical processes.

Familiarity with HIPAA and other healthcare information regulation.

Work Locations

This position is being made available with the ability for you to negotiate alternative work schedules and remote/on-site options to suit your work-life balance. Non-Michigan residents should inquire about potential employment while working remotely in a state other than Michigan. A portion of this position?s time will be onsite at offices in Ann Arbor, MI.
