What does a great Senior zTPF File Support Engineer do?
We are seeking a Senior zTPF File Support Engineer. Our Systems Engineers enhance and maintain the stability of the z/TPF complexes by providing high quality technical expertise and guidance for our z/TPF platform, operating systems, and database. As a Senior zTPF File Support Engineer, you will work with other zTPF File Support Engineers, z/TPF Systems Engineers, Applications Programmers, and Support teams performing daily activities ranging in complexity. You will be responsible for the configuration, maintenance, development, and reliable operation of our z/TPF environments. You will own and drive work efforts through all stages of the development, quality, and implementation life cycle. The successful candidate will be a self-motivated, talented, technical, proactive person who embraces team culture, challenges, problem solving, and has a proven track record of delivering.
Responsibilities include:
Provide expertise and technical leadership for critical z/TPF File Support software/function and mainframe platform capabilitiesServe as subject matter expert and provide direction to others. Lead small projects and be the key technical expert for larger projectsDesign, develop, enhance, and maintain the z/TPF mainframe platform and z/TPF operating system/database, including supporting software and utilities to meet Travelport's business requirementsDevelop new functionality, integrate IBM APARs, maintain proprietary operating system modifications, utilities, file system and databaseGenerate and implement enhancements to improve overall system design and/or streamline delivery of product. Proactively identify opportunities to improve delivery of daily workProvide operational and production support for Travelport z/TPF File Support, including third level support and problem resolution for the production, pre-production, and lower-level testing environmentsTechnical support interface to Travelport customers for z/TPF File Support functions including new functionality proof of concepts and assistance with debugging/problem resolutionManage and support tools for collecting and reporting on z/TPF database management and performanceUnderstand integration and impact on adjacent systems, as well as short and long-term impact of technical decisionsProvide 24x7 on-call availability and support on a rotating basis with other team members
Who we are looking for in this role:
Proven and current experience developing, deploying, and supporting the z/TPF operating system, z/TPF database, or TPF communications code and associated infrastructureCurrent knowledge of IBM software and hardware technologies - architecture, operating systemsStrong z/TPF operating system knowledge with assembler and C/C++ programming languagesExperience with z/TPF database management, including z/TPFDF, Globals, Recoup and PDU, z/TPF control program internals, and/or host communicationsAbility to navigate adjacent systems such as z/VM, z/Linux, and z/OSWorking knowledge of z/TPF development and testing tools, such as zTPFGI, IBM Toolkit, CP trace, z/Linux, maketpf, VPARSKnowledge of modern z/TPF capabilities a plus - DFDL, REST, Business Events, Kafka, Java, Encryption, and/or Jakarta MailAdditional programming language/technologies a plus - Java, REXX, OOREXX, Python, Perl, Linux Scripting (Bash, C Shell, Korn Shell, etc.)Demonstrated strong technical aptitude with strong problem-solving and critical thinking skillsKnowledge of ITIL principles and processesSelf-motivated with ability to multi-task and embrace an ever-changing environment, competing priorities, and high expectations.Desire to spend time with customers and integrate feedback in work effortsProficient written and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate technical information in a clear and succinct mannerOur ambition is to hire for potential not just experience, and you're likely to succeed if you:

Salary Target/Range: $135,000 - $150,000
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
