About the role
We are innovating on a number of high impact projects inside the Rippling Infrastructure organization (which is a part of our larger Platform org): regional data residency, more flexible and performant streaming and batch data replication and processing primitives, batch jobs running with low latency elastically at scale, modernizing our transactional databases, decomposing our monolith, actionable operational health and cost dashboards and reducing dev cycle times. Additionally, we are improving the efficiency with which we're serving our internal customers by investing in automated control and removing humans from the loop.
Delivering effectively here is critical for us as we scale into new markets and segments through 2025 and to keep driving more efficiency while freeing product engineering teams to rapidly deliver customer innovation. We are looking for senior technical engineering leaders (managers and ICs) to drive good outcomes here while solving interesting technical problems. We operate with high ambition in a no-nonsense, fast-paced environment with strong ownership and a lot of individual autonomy.
Our Infra team covers Data, Compute, DevX, Tools, Observability, Application Frameworks, Performance and SRE.`
What you will do
Develop high quality software with attention to detailShip incrementally and continually at high velocityJump into different and new codebases and diagnose issues and problems quicklyBuild for systems that scale for a large variety of use casesTackle large scaling challenges that involve scaling our capabilities to support 100,000+ employee companiesWork cross functionally with engineering leaders across the engineering org to plan and execute optimally in the face of high ambiguityDefine the architecture of distributed systems solutions, taking into account the appropriate trade-offsQualifications
10+ years of software engineering experience, with 5+ years in technical lead or architect rolesExperience building large-scale distributed systems, such as high-volume SaaS environmentsPreferred experience in building out large scale product infrastructures/platformsPreferred experience in our technology stack- Python, Django, Golang, React, MongoDB, Presto, Pinot, Kafka, AWSAbility to thrive in an ambiguous environment by identifying areas of impact and independently pursuing themA track record of influencing and enabling forward-thinking technology decisions across a wide organizationExcellent ability to communicate complex technical ideas with clarity and precision in written and verbal modes

Rippling highly values in-office collaboration. Employees living within 30 miles of an office are expected to work onsite three days a week with those living 30-49.9 miles away expected to be in the office one day a week.
