Position OverviewPrimary Purpose of PositionThis position is responsible for the qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for an assigned group of prospects, including individuals and corporations/foundations, with a focus on major gift activity; identification and qualification of new prospects; and managing assigned fundraising projects.
Primary Function of Organizational UnitThe mission of the division is to expand the University's relationship within the community for the purposes of increasing both the financial and human resources of the University.
To provide operating structure and central administrative support for the Vice Chancellor and the departmental units.
Development creates and maintains funding opportunities through prospect research, cultivation and stewardship.
Our development officers seek to raise private gifts of $25,000 or more for the College of Business and Economics, College of Engineering, College of Science and Technology, College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, College of Agriculture, College of Health and Human Services, College of Education, and the Department of Athletics.
Corporate and foundation support is raised to meet the needs of all academic programs and student scholarships, and the Aggie Athletic Foundation brings major support to athletics through direct funding and corporate sponsorship.
Minimum RequirementsMaster's degree or an equivalent combination of a bachelor's degree and 3 years of experience.
Demonstrated ability to be a highly energetic, self-starting, creative and entrepreneurial professional.
Ability to function in a team-oriented environment; to work independently as required; to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with a broad range of internal and external constituents; maintain confidential information; navigate sensitive situations; and establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Demonstrated integrity, positive attitude, diplomacy, tact.
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, EducationThe ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in fundraising in a higher education setting that includes extensive knowledge of fundraising techniques, proposal development, prospect identification, prospect research and cultivation, fund solicitation, successful closure of significant individual and/or corporate/foundation gifts; strong work ethic; and a documented history of portfolio management.
