The Role: Reporting to the Director, Investor Relations, the Senior Manager, Corporate Communications candidate will serve as a crucial communications leader for company-wide initiatives, overseeing the creation and implementation of comprehensive communication plans that engage a diverse set of stakeholders. This role will be responsible for crafting a wide range of communication materials that support the company's strategic objectives; interacting with key internal and external stakeholders; overseeing the company's media engagement initiatives; supporting internal communications and employee engagement activities and enhancing the company's corporate visibility.
*As part of the interview process, you will be asked to craft a brief media pitch you would have used to amplify the company's recent updates from the ESMO Congress 2024.
Responsibilities:Corporate communications and messaging:Drive the development and execution of comprehensive communications strategies that support the company's financial and strategic objectivesCollaborate with leaders across the company to develop an in-depth understanding of our programs, strategy, business operations, financial performance, and competitors to represent Nuvalent and inform messagingPartner with numerous functions to enable accurate and optimal creation, evolution, and delivery of key messages, and to ensure that external communications are aligned across all external audiencesSupport the creation and refinement of core communication materials, including press releases, presentations, company emails, and moreProject manage cross-functional review and approval of external disclosuresLead digital and social media initiatives, advising on the most impactful platforms, crafting tailored communication strategies, and delivering engaging content to maximize reachManage the corporate website, assisting with content strategy, visual design, and user experience to keep it updated with the latest pipeline advancements and scientific insightsCollaborate with cross-functional leaders to create employee communications that drive engagement and foster a vibrant company cultureOversee relationships with external communications partnersMedia relations:Develop and execute a strategic media engagement program that amplifies the company's strategic objectives, conduct peer research, and quarterly updating of media target listsCraft compelling and targeted media pitches around company milestones and manage outreachCreate briefing materials for management in preparation for media engagements and assist in training for spokespeopleIdentify and coordinate participation in industry conferences and thought leadership opportunitiesAct as the primary point of contact for media personnelProvide accurate, consistent, and timely responses to all external inquiries from media personnelAnalytics:Analyze engagement trends for our company and its peers to inform communications and media strategies and monitor impact of strategies over timeStay up-to-date on media trends and competitor activities, and provide guidance and support to the company's senior management team on industry sentiment and best practicesMonitor media coverage and social media mentions of Nuvalent to ensure factual accuracy of corporate updates and clinical dataCompetencies:Clear and concise oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated experience in writing external and internal facing communications for biotech or pharmaceutical companiesProven track record of developing and implementing successful strategic communications initiatives that enhance corporate reputation and align with business objectivesMust thrive working in a fast-paced, innovative environment while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficientExcellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop important relationships with all levels of management, identify issues and raise to key stakeholdersProcess orientated, with excellent project management skills, including risk assessment and contingency planningDeep understanding of relevant biotech, scientific and financial media outlets, and experience engaging with relevant health and business reportersExcellent problem solving, communication and organization skillsAttention to detail, accuracy and confidentialityQualifications:Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in corporate communications with a demonstrated understanding of the biotechnology industryBA, BS or equivalent degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or a relevant scientific disciplinePublic biotech company experienceKnowledge of industry trends and best practices in corporate communications, public relations, and media relationsExperience working with all levels of management, consulting with key business stakeholders and serving as a trusted communications advisorAbility to present and respond to questions about complex scientific and clinical dataHighly collaborative working style across internal and external teamsFamiliarity with corporate website management, including content strategy, user experience, and visual designExperience managing digital and social media platforms, with a strong understanding of how to leverage these channels for corporate communication and brand buildingExperience preparing spokespeople for media engagements, including media training and message developmentStrong analytical skills, with the ability to measure the effectiveness of communication initiatives and adjust strategies as neededExperience with research/benchmarking projects
