The
Applications Engineer
is responsible for the engineering and design content of projects & customer proposals for all assigned accounts. Performs all engineering calculations, expedite and process engineering changes. Direct liaison with customers for the resolution of technical matters as well as the development of products for customer projects. Responsible for interpreting design requirements and specifications and develop those into an engineered solution.
The role will be to focus on the product range of one of the Dover Corporation founding operating companies, being
Cook Compression , who with over 100 years of history in the Energy Resources industry, have pioneered technology developments and are renowned for the quality and reliability of their product range which includes reciprocating compressor valves, packing cases, pistons, rings, and wipers, supplying to both OEM's and the aftermarket. With established manufacturing sites globally, we are now seeking to recruit this position, on a hybris work basis, with 3 days per week at our facility in Pearland TX 77047.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent required, Master's Degree preferredMinimum of 3 years related work experience; 5+ years preferredMinimum 2 years previous experience with reciprocating equipment or rotating equipment and parts; 5 years preferredDemonstrated ability to create ideas and develop solutions - Excellent problem-solving skills Demonstrated skill in quality and continuous improvement, minimum experience 2 years RCA, 5 years preferred. Formal training in CI and/or Quality preferredDemonstrates strong understanding of Engineering Principles and design practicesExperience creating project charters, roadmaps, project management, and CapEx is preferredVery strong communication skills - Ability to interface with customers, sales staff, NPD, and manufacturingFamiliarity with 3D CAD & strong computer skillsMust be familiar with the impact of the manufacturing process on the key factors that control the form, fit, and function of a bearing and/or compressorWHAT YOU'LL DO:
Analyze product designs utilizing Dover Precision Components (DPC) tools and practices, interpret results and determine optimum solution to the customers' problem. Prepare technical information for new projects to customers' specifications.Develop close working relationships with key customers' technical contacts, ensuring that business opportunities are recognized and responded to appropriately at an early stage. Significant customer interaction with respect to the engineering and management of projects, pre and post contract, for assigned accounts.Interpret designs, assist / instruct the Design team, perform all engineering calculations, examine specifications, expedite and process engineering changes.Accountable for the successful completion of engineering projectsAssist in the preparation of engineering project proposalsParticipating in client/contractor meetings and resolving client/engineering and management project issuesEnsure effective liaison within the Engineering group to build and maintain consistently high engineering standards and to drive relevant product developmentSupport engineering process development and design for manufacturability efforts through specific assignments as directed by Engineering ManagementLead compressor and compressor part training seminars at customer and/or internal sites or virtually as needed and be able to fine-tune the training to the specific needs of the audience.
