Overview
In anticipation of a contract award, Tantus Technologies is seeking a dedicated Network Engineer to support the management, optimization, and security of a large-scale network infrastructure for a federal client. The role involves working closely with the Senior Network Engineer to maintain Cisco networking equipment, assist with F5 BIG-IP services, and manage DNS and IP address provisioning. The Mid-Level Network Engineer will use SolarWinds for network monitoring and troubleshooting, helping to ensure the network's high availability, performance, and security. This position is ideal for an individual with a foundational understanding of networking who is looking to grow their skills in a collaborative and dynamic environment. A CCNA or equivalent certification is required.

What You'll Do
Network Support and Maintenance:Assist in the configuration, management, and troubleshooting of Cisco network equipment, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs, to support the network's day-to-day operations.Help maintain LAN, WAN, and wireless network infrastructures to ensure consistent availability and performance.Collaborate with the Senior Network Engineer to implement network upgrades, expansions, and optimizations.F5 BIG-IP and Infoblox Support:Support the configuration and maintenance of F5 BIG-IP services, including Local Traffic Manager (LTM) and Global Traffic Manager (GTM), as part of the network's traffic management.Assist with the management of DNS services using Infoblox appliances, including IP address management and troubleshooting.Performance Monitoring and Troubleshooting:Monitor network performance using SolarWinds tools such as Network Performance Monitor (NPM) and NetFlow Traffic Analyzer (NTA) to identify and address potential issues.Troubleshoot network problems, working to quickly restore services and minimize impact on operations.Provide support in optimizing traffic flow and network performance through data analysis and troubleshooting efforts.Network Security and Compliance:Assist in implementing network security measures, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, and VPNs, in coordination with the network security team.Help ensure compliance with federal security standards, such as FISMA and NIST guidelines, through regular monitoring and participation in security assessments.Documentation and Reporting:Update and maintain documentation of network configurations, changes, and procedures, ensuring accuracy and alignment with organizational standards.Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and assist in developing documentation to support network management tasks.Contribute to reports on network status, performance, and security, providing data-driven insights to the Senior Network Engineer and other stakeholders.Collaboration and Teamwork:Work closely with the Senior Network Engineer and other team members to execute network projects and initiatives.Provide technical support and assistance to other IT teams as needed, ensuring seamless integration of network services.Required Knowledge and Skills
B.S. in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent experience.Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in network engineering, with hands-on experience managing and troubleshooting network environments.Knowledge of Cisco networking technologies, including routing, switching, firewalls, and VPNs.Required: Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent.Basic understanding of network security principles and best practices.Ability to support the implementation of security measures and monitoring activities.Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance is requiredContribute to the management of F5 BIG-IP services and DNS/IP address provisioning under the guidance of senior team members.Abilities
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve network issues with guidance, maintaining high availability and performance.Demonstrated ability to work in a team-oriented environment, collaborating effectively with senior team members.Support the reliability and performance of the network infrastructure by assisting in troubleshooting and configuration tasks.Maintain accurate documentation and follow established SOPs to support network operations and compliance efforts.Nice to Haves
Desirable: Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or working towards it.Familiarity with F5 BIG-IP services and Infoblox appliances is a plus.Experience with network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds (NPM, NTA) is desirable.
