Associate Director, Jewish Communal Life .

The Associate Director, Jewish Communal Life is responsible for relationship management for segments of the CJP portfolio organizations. This person will partner with grantees on goal setting and help partners stay on track with expected deliverables. In addition, the Associate Director will seek to identify potential new partners in support of portfolio goals. We seek a candidate who will develop formal grant recommendations for a segment of organizations and review grant applications to assist with the decision-making process. This role involves researching best practices and ensuring the grantmaking strategies take into consideration the diversity of our Jewish community. Another important component of this role is being able to partner with the AVP on relevant committees and volunteer groups. This position will also support Development work through involvement with donor meeting preparation, portfolio content summaries and offering expertise when needed.

We are seeking a candidate with strong relationship management skills; someone who is a strategic thinker who can easily partner with other CJP departments. It is critical to have experience managing sensitive information while also managing the varied opinions of stakeholders. CJP is a fast-paced and dynamic organization where the ability to take new concepts/requests and translate them into action is crucial. The Associate Director, Jewish Communal Life will report to the Associate VP of Engagement.

Essential Functions:

Build and maintain deep, trust-based partnerships:Responsible for relationship management for a segment of portfolio organizations, ensuring that each partner organization has thoughtful outreach and a strategic partnership approach. Communicate regularly and clearly with organizational partners.Partner with grantees on goal setting and provide regular updates on progress towards goals that ultimately impact funding decisions.Conduct or facilitate regular check-ins with partners, ensuring they understand CJP's priorities, processes, decision making, and goals.Help partners to stay on track with expected deliverables such as progress reports, fulfillment of grant agreements and other expectations.Identify potential new partners in support of CJP and portfolio goals and work to build new relationships as relevant.Responsible for holding a comprehensive view of the organization including tracking all information such as shared donors/volunteers, funding history, current programmatic priorities, collaborations throughout the ecosystem, and any other pertinent information.Recommend grants based on organizational relationships:

Advise organizational partners on the grantmaking process and help guide them to maximize the information received and funding opportunities available.Develop investment memos and formal grant recommendations for a segment of organizations in the Jewish Communal Life portfolio.Review organizational grant applications and apply our grantmaking rubric to the information received to ground portfolio level grantmaking decisions.Contribute to the development and implementation of portfolio strategy:

Contribute to a deep, up-to-date understanding of the landscape of Jewish engagement in the Greater Boston area; research best practices, innovation and new ways of working in the portfolio.Partner in the development of strategies for key sub-focus areas in the grantmaking portfolio, e.g. organized by life stage.Partner with the AVP in managing the implementation of strategies around key focus areas within the portfolio and manage transitions as new areas become "steady state" over time.Help to ensure that our strategies for grantmaking in Jewish Communal Life take into consideration the diversity of our Jewish community and seek to engage people where they are and how they want to engage.Contribute to maintaining an up to date "heatmap" of portfolio investments and review these against the set outcomes for the portfolio.Identify and advocate for innovative ideas, programs and leadership that addresses the needs and diversity of the Boston Jewish community.Regularly bring relevant national organizations to the team in consideration of furthering our local engagement goals.Contribute to the portfolio's perspective on aligning grants and resources to advance partners who can clearly articulate and demonstrate progress to support Portfolio goals; provide information and data to help clearly articulate why we fund what we fund and why we don't fund what we don't.Thoug

Partner with the AVP in supporting and participating in relevant committees and volunteer groups.Provide thought partnership for the AVP on strategic questions and topics to bring to relevant volunteer groups.Help develop volunteer materials and communications to ensure clear and timely information sharing with volunteers.Support the communication of portfolio strategy and efforts internally and externally:

Work cross-functionally to integrate engagement content across Strategy and Impact, CJP's Advancement team, and beyond.Inform AVP of opportunities to identify synergies across the portfolios and other priority areas (e.g., Center for Combatting Antisemitism).Support Development work by helping with donor meeting preparation, writing portfolio content summaries, and offering content expertise when needed.Other duties as assigned with or without accommodation.Requirements

Education:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.Experience:

6+ years professional experience in related field with relationship management, program management and/or community organizing.Skills/Competencies:

Experience working with Jewish communal organizations.Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with staff, volunteer leaders, and community partners.?Ability to understand new concepts, multipart requests, and translate them into action.Demonstrated experience with project management, including setting SMART goals, implementing methodologies, and measuring impact.Desire to work on a fast-paced, dynamic team.Solutions-oriented and action-oriented (i.e., takes on new opportunities and difficult challenges with energy and enthusiasm).Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.Political acuity and experience managing sensitive information.Ability to manage varied opinions of stakeholders.Demonstrated critical thinking.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Ability to be flexible.Other:

Hybrid Work Schedule: Tuesdays and Wednesdays in office work is required; Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays remote work option applies.Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods, much of which will be working at a computer.
