A Day in the Life of an Urban Designer
As an Urban Designer at Toole, you will apply your broad knowledge of design technical criteria, methods, graphic design techniques, and spatial design to landscape architecture and urban design tasks. You will have the opportunity to work on stakeholder outreach and design workshops, master planning, concept plans, demonstration projects, 3D modeling, illustrative graphics, design development and construction documents. This work happens at a variety of project scales ranging from visionary master plans for large portions of cities down to transforming alleyways into intimate public spaces for people.
You will have the opportunity to work both independently as well as a part of a diverse interdisciplinary team. Your job can sometimes be challenging, but you get to work with a close-knit team that is passionate about the work and the communities that you serve.
Work Schedule for an Urban Designer
This full-time position typically works a flexible schedule of 40 hours a week. We also provide employees with the flexibility and necessary equipment to work from home 2-3 days per week. The Atlanta office of Toole Design is conveniently located intown, along the Atlanta BeltLine Eastside Trail, and within walking distance to MARTA. The office is easily accessed on foot, by bicycle, and via transit.

Qualifications of an Urban Designer:
A bachelor's and/or master's degree in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, Planning, or a related field from an accredited college or university3+ years of hands-on landscape architecture experience including development of design ideas, production of presentation materials and construction documentsProficiency in graphic production in both 2D and 3D using SketchUp, V-Ray, and the Adobe Creative Suite and AutoCADInterest in weaving active transportation into the design of the public realm driven by thoughtful public outreach/engagementIt would be a plus if you have:
