**Job Summary:**

This position is accountable for both planning and directing the repair of instrumentation and control systems for assigned equipment in the generating station and, in addition, is responsible for analyzing operating deficiencies in these systems to maintain maximum availability and efficiency within budget constraints.

**Essential Duties/Responsibilities:**

(These duties must be performed in the job; however, additional duties may be assigned):

+ The I&C Supervisor provides technical leadership and support to Plant Operational and Maintenance staff in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, problem resolution, and optimization of existing controls, instrumentation, networking, power systems, PLC, HMI, servo, controls networking systems, control safety systems, industrial computer systems, motor control, distributed control systems, and other automation.

+ Maintains assigned equipment systems to assure reliability and availability of the plant.

+ Analyzes operating problems, establishes emergency operating procedures and priorities and plans and directs repairs to assure timely repair of equipment.

+ Enforces safety rules and trains personnel to develop safe work practices and procedures to assure overall safe plant operation.

+ Maintains equipment service records as a preventive maintenance measure to detect possible future problems without unnecessary loss of production.

+ Oversees the work of outside contractors if needed.

+ Operates within assigned budget for his/her plant subsystems and achieves the performance targets in the business plan.

+ Plans and directs work to assure compliance with all environmental and regulatory requirements.

+ Ensures the work site is maintained and returned to a safe, reliable, and orderly condition.

+ Routinely supervises maintenance & electrical/instrument technicians in the dismantling, repairing and assembly of equipment systems and tools used in the plant. Writes procedures to be used by technicians in analyzing and repairing equipment. If an outside contractor is utilized, the incumbent is responsible for overseeing this work group.

+ Manages the backlog of work activities associated with his/her assigned equipment.

+ Performs detail planning of job tasks so that parts, information, and procedures are available to efficiently complete the tasks.

The incumbent coordinates the scheduling of this work with both operations and planning personnel.

+ The incumbent reviews the department logs on a daily basis to remain up to date on work being performed on his/her assigned equipment.

He/she maintains records to better analyze future maintenance and to predict future budget requirements.

+ The incumbent observes and instructs personnel in safe work practices and enforces company rules and regulations when necessary.

He/she is qualified and authorized to tag and switch equipment in the plant and switchyard as appropriate.

+ Keeps abreast of and applies new technology to prevent problems or reduce maintenance.

**QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES:**

Any combination equivalent to, but not limited to, the following:

**Minimum Requirements:**

+ High school diploma or GED

+ A minimum of 5 years of experience in power plant instrument and controls maintenance or a related field

**Preferred Qualifications:**

+ An associate degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

+ Experience supervising electrical or instrument craft workers

+ Good working knowledge of fossil/steam generation equipment and industrial electrical and instrumentation system repair requirements.

**Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:**

+ Experience with gas turbine instrumentation and controls equipment

+ Proven leadership skills

+ A thorough knowledge of power plant instrumentation and control technical skills

+ Overall knowledge of power plant operations.

+ Blueprint reading and computer skills

+ Strong organizational skills and capability of handling multiple projects simultaneously

+ Excellent written and oral communication skills

+ Strong analytical skills

+ Strong strategic business sense and industry knowledge/experience.

+ Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, SAP

+ Experience with CEMS equipment

+ Strong level of knowledge of various distributed control systems

**Physical Requirements/Working Conditions** :

This a mixed work environment that combines both office and plant working conditions with moderate to medium noise levels.

Must be able to wear required personal protection equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, goggles, face shields, hearing protection, respirators, fall protection harnesses, and other PPE as required.
