Norfolk Healthcare Consortium Team (NHC) seeks a talented Multimedia Communication Specialist II to join our benefits and wellness team. In support of approximately 9,500 members and their dependents, the Norfolk Healthcare Consortium (comprised of the City of Norfolk, Norfolk Public Schools and Norfolk Redevelopment & Housing Authority) provides high-quality healthcare benefits at an affordable cost.

Description

The (Communication Specialist II) Multimedia Communication Specialist II, under the general supervision of the Communications and Wellness Manager for the Norfolk Healthcare Consortium, is responsible for the day-to-day support of promoting benefits and wellness programs and events.

Essential Functions

Essential functions include but are not limited to:

Develops and designs Norfolk Healthcare Consortium branded educational materials and creates original content (video, educational and communication pieces, website, etc.) which promotes and informs employees about benefits and wellness options.

Ensures the NHC branding standards are upheld, coordinates video and creative support for NHC projects. Provides relevant content for newsletters, employee benefit guides, new employee and open enrollment educational materials.

Updates and maintains the NHC website by using computer applications in coordination with the information technology department; adheres to web page design and guidelines.

Collaborates and acts as a liaison to the communications teams at the City of Norfolk, Norfolk Public Schools and Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority by interacting with vendors, planning and coordinating NHC materials.

Supports a strategy to create and disseminate educational materials for employee benefit and wellness programs using a variety of multimedia tools.

Develops and implements a communication and marketing strategy to create and deliver webinars and podcasts to explain benefit and wellness features and concepts to employees.

Performs administrative duties such as research and preparing statistical information for presentations, providing benefits and wellness communication materials. Provides graphics and visuals for NHC meetings as well as for benefits and wellness events.

Remains up to date on all communication technology applications.

Oversees project-specific functions or initiatives.

Demonstrates ability to work with minimal supervision.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience

Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. Knowledge is normally acquired through four years of college resulting in a Bachelor's degree or equivalent.

Four (4) years' experience in marketing and communications field.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CORE COMPETENCIES

Degree in Marketing or Communications is preferred

Creative design experience, including layout, composition, and typography

Strong Microsoft Office experience (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher)

Strong writing skills

Experience collaborating on a team

Experience prioritizing to meet deadlines

Experience working with Adobe Photoshop

Experience working with Articulate Storyline is preferred

Experience working with Civic Plus is preferred

Required Knowledge, Abilities and Skills Essential to Job Functions:

Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with the public and with employees to exchange and clarify information, to understand the views of others and to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations.

Possess attention to detail in composing, typing, and proofing materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.

Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner and gather and analyze information skillfully.

Possess a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.

Excellent time management and organizational skills.

Additional Information & Requirements

Signing Bonus: This position is eligible for a one-time $5000 sign on bonus

Regular full-time and permanent part-time employees may receive paid holidays, vacation and sick leave, employer paid pension plan, basic life insurance, voluntary participation in medical and dental, Section 457 deferred compensation, long-term disability, optional life insurance for self, spouse and children, medical and dependent care reimbursement plans, access to membership in credit union and employer provided parking.

Special project/grant employees are generally eligible for the same benefits of regular full-time employees; however, retirement, life insurance and participation in health plans vary depending upon funding and authorization.

Temporary/seasonal and part-time employees are generally only eligible for employer provided parking and access to membership in credit union.

Retirement

If you are hired October 5, 2010, or after to a position with City of Norfolk Retirement System benefits, you will be required to contribute five percent (5%) of your salary toward your retirement benefit. This will be a pre-tax payroll deduction.

If you are hired January 1, 2022, or after to a position with Virginia Retirement System (VRS) benefits, you will be required to contribute five percent (5%) of your salary toward your retirement benefit. This will be a pre-tax payroll deduction.

The Tuition Assistance Program is established to encourage employees toward continued self-development and education. Permanent full-time and permanent part-time classified, unclassified permanent, full-time special projects, and constitutional employees who have completed six months continuous service will be eligible to apply. The applicant’s school of enrollment must be an accredited institution.
