Senior Purchasing ManagerOverview:SLPT, a leading global automotive supplier, is actively seeking a highly motivated individual to be part of the North America and Europe team that has a fast-growing electric vehicle components portfolio direct to the OEMs. The Senior Purchasing Manager drives strategy for global commodity purchasing, leads commercial negotiations, participates on new and current product program launches and manages the purchasing functions for North America and Europe.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Manage the purchasing and purchasing team for all commodities, from new product introduction to annual purchase/supplier maintenanceEstablishing commodity strategies based on analytical data and drives domestic and global sourcing based on cost and supplier performanceResident expert on purchasing specific commodities for brushless motors, PCBAs, controllers and electronicsLead sourcing for supplier contracting from RFQ, supplier assessment, net present value analysis, negotiating, final sourcing and launchSupport the New Product Introduction (NPI) process by ensuring the sourcing the best suppliers at the appropriate time, the active encouragement of supplier involvement during the product design phase, ensuring pre-production parts and materials are available as required, ensuring that tooling and component purchase orders are issued at the appropriate time.Improve purchasing processes, controls and procedures that support IATF and SLPT operating goalsDevelop future leaders by identifying mentoring opportunities, providing challenging assignments, and delegating stretch projects to accelerate development and hire additional staff as the organization growsCollaborate with internal teams (Engineering, Production, Program Management, Quality, etc.) to manage supplier selection and evaluation and drive decisions in alignment with Company objectivesAbility to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, legal documents and engineering drawings.Prepare Annual Headcount, Expense and Purchasing Price Variance Forecast for business planning purposesPrepare, review and update monthly reports to track and forecast Purchasing performance to budget, and provide clear direction and actions to ensure targets are met.Identifying and achieving cost reduction goals by collaborating with our parent company to leverage corporate purchasing powerEstablishing and submitting for approval and managing the annual and five-year budget planning requirements that link to the organizations annual and five-year business planInitiates quoting that provides real cost estimates for Sales and Marketing, including a cost competitive BOM that will be the baseline for initial quoting to SLPT customersConducts or supports supplier manufacturing feasibility reviews and supplier kick-off meetings. May also conduct and support supplier technical reviewsLeads multi-discipline projects or teams and interfaces with change project teamsTracks, reports and communicates market conditions, pricing and supply trends, purchasing techniques and new productsCreates and maintains POs in MRP databaseSupporting cross country (US and China) communication and transfer of business systems and practices for strategic purposesEducation/Experience:At least 10 years of Supply Chain experience focused in the automotive industryBachelors Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Program Management or Engineering discipline requiredSix Sigma or comparable improvement methodologiesExperience with high voltage battery products, brushless motors, PCBAs and electronic components preferredExperience with purchasing major commodities including Electronics, Die Castings, Sintered Metal, Stampings, Machined, and Cold Headed products)Essential negotiation and leadership skills, proactive team player, sense of responsibility, drive for results, self-motivated and goal-oriented attitudeDemonstrated leadership of work teams and working across functionsExceptional presentation, written, analytical and verbal communication skillsHigh energy, teamwork, and passion for developing team members
