If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you.As our Team Leader, Oligonucleotide Synthesis, you and your team will play a pivotal role in advancing GSK's pre-clinical pipeline through the synthesis, processing, and purification of therapeutic oligonucleotides. Your expertise will enable us to solve complex chemical challenges, pushing the boundaries of what's possible in oligonucleotide therapeutics.This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career. These responsibilities include some of the following:Lead and Innovate:
Establish, lead and develop the therapeutic oligonucleotide synthesis team, collaborating cross-functionally to advance our pre-clinical portfolio and technology platforms. Hire, manage, coach, and develop a high-performing team.Be the Expert:
Serve as GSK's subject matter expert on discovery scale oligonucleotide synthesis. Keep abreast of industry advancements, regulatory requirements and competitor approaches in synthetic oligonucleotide chemistry.Communicate Impact:
Provide regular updates and address challenges to stakeholders at all levels across GSK. Contribute to patents, publications, posters, and presentations, showcasing our scientific advancements.Standardize Excellence:
Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for synthesis, processing, and purification to ensure high-quality, reproducible results.Foster Quality:
Partner with the analytical chemistry team to ensure accountability and excellence in oligonucleotide and conjugate synthesis.Collaborate Externally:
Support partnerships with external entities and manage relationships with CROs.Why you?
Basic Qualifications:We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:BS/MS in Chemistry with 5+ years experience, or Ph.D. in Chemistry with 2+ years' experience, specializing in oligonucleotide synthesis and at least 2+ years in managing laboratory scientists.Experience in modern synthetic chemistry methods, particularly nucleosides, nucleotides, and oligonucleotide synthesis, purification, and analysis. Experience with oligonucleotide conjugation chemistries.Leadership experience, including training, developing, and managing talent and the ability to build, motivate, and inspire diverse high-performing teams.Organic chemistry experience of solving synthetic challenges in the field of therapeutic oligonucleotides.Preferred Qualifications:If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:Experience with oligonucleotide conjugation chemistries is desirable.Prior experience of establishing an oligonucleotide synthesis laboratory is a plus.Proven effective communication and negotiation skills suitable for a wide range of audiences, from laboratory analysts to senior management.
