Job Description

Western Digital is seeking a New College Graduate to join the Big Data Platform team within our Information Technology group in San Jose, CA.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Using Git-based source control system bit bucket and continuous integration tools like Jenkins and deployment using Terraform and Ansible

Designing and assisting applications in implementing AI/ML and GenAI solutions

Working with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Istio and other Kubernetes concepts

Troubleshooting existing web applications based on Node.js, Python, HTML5, CSS3 and modify applications for performance improvements

Developing, testing, and deploying web/client applications using chosen development tools according to Western Digital design principles

Designing and developing multi-tier architecture web applications with REST API in Python/Java using MVC architecture

Qualifications:Qualifications

Required:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related IT/engineering field with a graduation date before July 2025.

The expected start date for this position is in July or August 2025.

Excellent English communication skills with the ability to work in a cross-functional team setting.

Passion for writing code and developing applications, especially utilizing industry leading development tools like JavaScript, Node.js, Python, HTML5, and CSS3

Understanding of and/or exposure to:

AI/ML and GenAI technologies

Docker and containerization concepts

CI/CD tolls like BitBucket, Jenkins, Ansible, Docker, etc.

Good project management, problem-solving, analytical, and presentation skills are required.

Must possess the ability to freely express one's own view as well as accept well-known methodologies

Preferred:

Master's degree candidates will be prioritized for this role.

Certifications in AWS development, Software Development Life Cycle Methodology, integrated source control systems, and/or continuous development/integration are a plus

Compensation & Benefits Details

An employee’s pay position within the salary range may be based on several factors including but not limited to (1) relevant education; qualifications; certifications; and experience; (2) skills, ability, knowledge of the job; (3) performance, contribution and results; (4) geographic location; (5) shift; (6) internal and external equity; and (7) business and organizational needs.

The salary range is what we believe to be the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in California, Colorado, New York or remote jobs that can be performed in California, Colorado and New York. This range may be modified in the future.

You will be eligible to participate in Western Digital’s Short-Term Incentive (STI) Plan, which provides incentive awards based on Company and individual performance. Depending on your role and your performance, you may be eligible to participate in our annual Long-Term Incentive (LTI) program, which consists of restricted stock units (RSUs) or cash equivalents, pursuant to the terms of the LTI plan. Please note that not all roles are eligible to participate in the LTI program, and not all roles are eligible for equity under the LTI plan. RSU awards are also available to eligible new hires, subject to Western Digital’s Standard Terms and Conditions for Restricted Stock Unit Awards.
