Genesis10 is currently seeking a Sr. Database Administrator with our client in the transportation industry in their Atlanta, GA location. This is a 12 month + contract position.

Description:Seeking a Sr. Database AdministratorOur client is on a journey to becoming the best IT organization in the airline industry, a journey of transformation. Responsibilities:

Work with customer, deployment squads, and product management to identify and document use case scenariosLead on all data solution aspects including setting data standards and provide your deep technical expertise to development teams for best practices, systems, and architecturesResponsible for data analysis and database management, Database automation in AWS with RDS, Lambda using PythonInvolved in maintenance, enhancement, designing of data dictionaries, physical and logical database models, and performance tuningResponsible for understanding, configuring, and managing database administration toolsProvides database support for business applications and schedules back up jobs for user databasesProvides access control (password resets/account creation/deletion) and checks IP compliance (violation report review, compliance updates and compliance set ups)Performs data purging and data replication activities with both on-demand and automated cron jobsResearch on connectivity issues and recurring errors in Application databaseResponds to database alerts and takes appropriate actionsPerforms database creationsPerforms performance tuning and troubleshooting for databasePerforms application database maintenance and provides technical assistance to usersManages database account access and database object changesEnsures that monitoring and alerts are properly in place to meet monitoring requirementsPerforms application database and OS scriptingReviews Information Protection compliance reports and notifications for individual databases and internal processes (including compliance updates and compliance set ups)Performs data purging and data replication activitiesPerforms database recovery from logs, hot and cold backups, Export/Imports and Disaster RecoveryPerforms database creation decommissioning and database updates/migrations to a higher/lower version or cross platform migrationsInvolved in database, schema, and object refresh activitiesMonitors and reports existing database Instance, Database, Server activities for CPU, Memory, and Cache, logs performance, and recommends effective resource utilization/emergency recovery proceduresImplements database security and auditing features and periodic reviewsConducts root cause analysis for repeated incidentsPerforms heterogeneous database interface deployment and support for various data interfaces with applications, Middleware interface and functionality deployment with database architecturePlans and develops processes for database updates and migrations to a higher/lower version or cross platform migrationsDevelops capacity planning processes that include monitoring of existing database Instance, Database, Server activities for CPU, Memory, Cache, Logs performance and recommends effective utilization of resources and emergency recovery proceduresConducts team training and responsible for resource managementResearch new technologies to address operations reliability and complianceImplements and performs configuration management of database cluster and replications

Requirements:

Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or equivalent10+ years as an Oracle DBA, with expertise in design, implementation, backup, recovery, monitoring, and performance tuning5+ years expertise with multiple AWS DB Services, Lambda creations for automating multiple DB jobs5+ years Database automation in AWS with RDS, Lambda using Python, preferable: Oracle, Postgres, AuroraDBAbility to communicate verbally and in writing with all levels of employees and management, capable of successful formal and informal communication, speaks and writes clearly and understandably for the audienceStrong analytical skills with strong attention to detail and accuracyAbility to source, disseminate and properly apply secondary researchExpertise in high-availability database features, replication, disaster recovery, and live production schema changesProficiency with cloud-specific technologies (S3, Route 53, CloudFormation, AWS CDK, AWS Cloudwatch, AWS RDS, AWS Redshift, DynamoDB, Redis), version control tools (Git), and database life-cycle managementKnowledge of database security, backup retention policies, and scaling databasesExperience with managing the full life cycle of database schema design and implementation, which includes script management from development through production releasesExperience implementing database schema changes in a live production environment requiring minimal downtime and zero performance impact
