The Semiconductor Business Unit provides solutions for customers in pathfinding, yield learning, and failure analysis of semiconductor processes and manufacturing. As a member of this team, you will work with companies on the top tier edge of semiconductor innovation as they develop and characterize the processes that will lead to the technologies of tomorrow.
How will you make an impact?
The Applications Development Engineer TEM Semiconductor is in charge of providing technical expertise in the support of Thermo Fisher Scientific's sales efforts at specific high class semiconductor customer sites. This position is ideal for an authority technologist wanting to be involved with a complementary team and exposed to a constant variety of customer application areas. This role builds bridges in semiconductor developments cross continents between customers / marketing and R&D and has a strong knowledge and understanding of TEM.
Responsibilities:
Encouraging positive customer relationships and acting as a high-level customer interface for specific instrument/applications issues, providing detailed explanations of sophisticated technology features, delivering comprehensive technical presentations, and supporting automated TEM applications development.
Perform high quality TEM product demonstrations, including the development of new techniques and applications for Thermo Fisher partners and customers, particularly those in the Semiconductor marketplace.
Conduct customer training and translate customer needs into workable solutions
Provide continuous feedback to the product groups on tool performance and potential problems while strongly collaborating with marketing/development groups on future product developments.
Performing process development and other technical work at the customer site.
Deliver Best Practice Document customization to customer-specific processes, write production recipes and run qualification experiments to drive the use of TEM tools in production.
Resolve software and hardware issues and advance when needed.
Provide technical support to Sales and Service Desk, R&D, Manufacturing, Customer Service and other departments as required.
How will you get here?
Education
Typically requires a University degree in Materials Science, Chemistry and or Physics, an advanced degree is preferred.
Experience
5+ years knowledge and recent hands-on experience with TEM is required. Experience with automated transmission electron microscopy and metrology is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Proficiency in advanced technology diagnostics, along with experience in fixing techniques, operational optimization, and working with analytical equipment, particularly transmission electron microscopes.
Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes
to work independently as well as in the team.
Excellent, hard-working, clear interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, with a diverse audience are essential to the success of this position.
Excellent customer interfacing skills is a must.
Proven track record to work effectively with multi-functional and diverse teams.
Must have professional working proficiency in English. Ability to write (scientific) papers and other publications.
Ability to travel internationally (up to 50%), ability to acquire a valid passport.
