Job Summary

The Product Manager will play a key role in the design, development and execution of growth of the Life & Disability product portfolio.

This position will act as product owner for their assigned product lines and is responsible for formulating, preparing, and implementing product strategies and action plans, as well as monitoring and managing the performance of assigned products throughout the full product life cycle.

Responsibilities include active review of the market and competitive landscape, understand and represent the customer journey, and developing strong partnership with actuarial, legal, compliance, underwriting, operations, claims and the benefits technology ecosystem to influence all aspects of the product delivery.

Additionally, this individual will help identify, prioritize, and design new products or enhancements for the product set in support of the product roadmap.

This position will be responsible for partnering with marketing to help define the overall marketing strategy, key messages, and differentiation points.

This role will also represent One America Financial in the market, potentially including representation in product launch activities, industry association, broker roadshows, etc.

Primary duties include but are not limited to:

Product Strategy

Assess key market factors, including competitive landscape, consumer and policyholder insights, and unmet customer needs to identify areas of opportunity for differentiated product or service enhancements to meet customer expectations and achieve growth objectives.Translate consumer insights into actionable strategies and initiatives as part of business, marketing and product development plans.Execute programs and initiatives in support of improving satisfaction with all key constituents.Ensure appropriate product training and positioning is developed to educate internal and external teams.Product Management / SME

Partner with underwriting & actuarial to evaluate effectiveness of product performance and leverage insights for influencing product improvement initiatives.Act as primary liaison to other areas, to include Sales, Legal, Underwriting, Claims and Operations on assigned products. Troubleshoot compliance, service, systems and claim issues and work with our partners to resolve.Ensure that One America way procedures and applicable systems are updated as necessary and that changes are communicated to all interested parties.Complete regular and comprehensive competitive analysis, using all available data sources; customer feedback, field, broker, industry contacts, industry surveys, and other publicly available competitor information.Provide subject matter expertise review and oversight of messaging for marketing materials and materials posted on available platforms.Business Leadership of Product Initiatives

Champion and drive the development of new products and enhancements of existing products from market assessment through the full product life cycle.Bring thought leadership and knowledge of the external benefit technology ecosystem to prioritize and delivery impactful integration opportunities.Act as Product Owner and lead to execute product development projects.Collaborate with others across the product area and employee benefits organization to define business requirements for product, contracts, claims, online capabilities and service.Define and drive Go-to-Market Strategy working with Sales, Account Management, Underwriting, Actuarial and Marketing to define target markets and marketing strategy.Job Requirements

MBA preferredRequired Work Experience

At least 3-5 years’ experience in insurance industry with domain experience in life, disability, absence management, and paid family & medical leave, preferably with a large market carrier.Knowledge and experience working with external partnerships.Knowledge and experience working within the benefit technology ecosystem a plus.Proven ability to influence cross functional teams to achieve results in a dynamic, rapidly changing market.Must be customer-focused and able to skillfully manage relationships and expectations with Sales and all other internal and external stakeholders.Strong project management and communication skills, with demonstrated success influencing and achieving results through others.Ability to draft and produce clear supporting documents in PowerPoint, Excel etc.

This selected candidate will be expected to work a Hybrid schedule in Indianapolis, IN or Portland, ME. The candidate will also be expected to physically return to the office in CA, IN or ME as business needs dictate or for team building and collaboration.
