Position OverviewThe Designer-Advanced Design will be responsible for ensuring the design integrity, consistency and aesthetic vision is maintained and executed throughout the development lifecycle of a project. This individual will cover projects in High, High/Fine and Custom jewelry product categories. Key Accountabilities Design/Project ManagementModel, refine and produce designs for handoff to Engineering, CAD team and workshops.Design and actualize concepts in partnership with Design team.Create 3D CAD files, photo realistic 2D presentation artwork, 2D technical artwork, design iterations and size and color variations.Ensure consistency of design and house codes across jewelry collections and concepts.Partner with external vendors, the jewelry design and innovation workshop and product development to execute design intent samples and anticipate and resolve critical issues throughout the development cycleAdapt to changing priorities as directed by design team and meet product development deadlines.Partner with designers to oversee jewelry product category projects throughout the development lifecycle.CommunicationCommunicate any anticipated critical issues during design concept phase that may impact the design, design aesthetic, manufacturability and/or quality of the end product.Attend and actively participate in department staff meetings.AdministrativeArchive design materials in compliance with procedure. Remain up to date and proficient on CAD technology and development techniques.Required QualificationsThe ideal candidate will have a BFA Degree.5+ years of professional experience with Design for Manufacturing in the jewelry industry.Thorough understanding of jewelry manufacturing techniques and materials.Strong design skills and ability to focus on and refine details, while keeping in mind brand aesthetic codes.Knowledge of rapid prototyping process.Strong aesthetic sensibility and ability to accurately interpret and build on design concepts.Expert skill-set, high effectiveness and efficiency in two or more of the following: Rhino, Modo, SolidWorks, T-Splines, Z-Brush, Adobe CS, KeyShot and V-Ray.Proficient in Adobe CS including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.Experience in the creation of 2D and 3D technical artwork and specifications. Strong design analytical skills.Solution and multi-tasking oriented.Organized, flexible and adaptive to change. Excellent team player with a professional manner and ability to work well in collaboration with others.Strong verbal communication skills.Ability to set and meet deadlines.Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of tabletop, gift and hollowware design and manufacturing.Formal goldsmith and/or metalsmith training.3-5 years of experience as a bench jeweler.Extensive experience working with/knowledge of diverse materials (e.g. woods, ceramics, rubber, etc.) and gemstones/diamonds.Knowledge of various materials including but not limited to precious metals in various states (cast, machined, stamped, etc.), gemstone materials (strength, hardness, toughness, etc.) and advanced materials (ceramics, coatings - PVD, DLC).The hiring range for this position ranges from $97,665 - $132,135. The rate of pay offered will be dependent upon candidates’ relevant skills and experience.
