Human ResourcesFull Time79860BRJob SummaryUnder the direction of the Director of Labor and Employee Relations (LER), the Labor and Employee Relations Manager works as a part of a team with a focus on supporting the mission of the UCSF Health. The incumbent serves as a senior resource and manager to other labor and employee relations staff. The LER Manager provides overall guidance to managers, supervisors and directors regarding all aspects of the Employee and Labor Relations spectrum; from formal training to grievance handling to specific guidance regarding corrective action for an employee. Recommends, assists in writing and provides guidance in interpreting and enforcing human resources policies, procedures and collective bargaining agreements. Reviews and counsel managers and supervisors regarding work related issues and progressive corrective action in compliance with existing policies and procedures, collective bargaining agreements and the law. Position reports to the Director of LER.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. Human Resources is committed to providing an outstanding customer experience, leading workforce strategies, creating an engaging environment focused on continuous improvement for the HR team, and demonstrating value to the organization.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.nle7 - 10 years related experience in employee and labor relations or equivalent combination of education, training, and experienceMinimum 2 years of supervisory experience.Possesses advanced analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating organization and problem-solving skillsAdvanced knowledge of employee relations practices and programs, labor/employment law and the principles and techniques of labor negotiations.Excellent interpersonal communication skills to develop and maintain professional relationships with medical center department managers as well as other managers in the field.Technically proficient in interpreting collective bargaining agreements and personnel policies as well as having a good working knowledge of other areas of the law such as the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and the Fair Labor Standards Act.Substantive knowledge of as well as demonstrated resourcefulness in researching institutional policies, collective bargaining agreements and procedures is critical.Working knowledge of how UCSF functions and the ability to understand procedures as they relate to processing a complaint.Highly developed skills associated with conflict resolution.Effective written and oral communication skills.
