What you'll be doing…As a leader in the AI Center, you will use your expertise in model risk management, experience with implementation of AI, and experience in leading and building a team. You will focus on operationalizing AI and GenAI risk management across Verizon, which includes but is not limited to bias testing, bias mitigation, risk assessment, independent ethics review, and other risk management operations to make sure Verizon models comply with NIST AI RMF and other AI regulations.
You will work closely with data science teams and the entire data scientist community at Verizon in proactively designing and developing unbiased, ethical and interpretable AI and GenAI capabilities. These AI and GenAI capabilities will include predictive, prescriptive, adaptive, and generative applications for all predictions and inferences at Verizon. Models will typically get implemented on-premise, in cloud and/or on the edge, and in both real-time and batch mode depending upon the business applications.
At Verizon, we are on a multi-year journey to industrialize our data science and AI capabilities. Very simply, this means that AI will fuel all decisions and business processes across the company. At $130B+ in annual revenue, this is a pioneering opportunity to design and shape AI at scale in the Telco industry. With our leadership in bringing 5G network nationwide, the opportunity for AI will only grow exponentially in going from enabling billions of predictions to possibly trillions of predictions that are automated and real-time. Therefore, it will be critical that this candidate possess previous experience in research and validation of AI and data science techniques.
Work collaboratively with different stakeholders to proactively manage AI risk during model development and post-production
Stay informed on the latest responsible AI trends in both industry and academia, updates of laws/policies/regulations, and finding ways to deliver value by applying and customizing these to our specific problem space.
Develop testing and validation rigor for all new and next-generation AI methods.
Collaborate with data scientist teams and senior leaders to ensure model testing and validation discipline is followed for all models, including models deployed in production.
Establish best practices to ensure adherence to model management guidelines and compliance with our policy standards for privacy, ethics, and bias.
Inspire our team to create AI applications designed with bias considerations that promote responsible AI both within Verizon and externally with Verizon’s partners.
Engage with teams across Verizon, develop strong trust and relationships, and identify opportunities to make a further impact on Verizon’s ethical and responsible use of AI.
