The National Accounts Manager manages all aspects of selling select Penguin Young Readers books to Barnes & Noble. This position interacts with several internal departments including editorial, design, and other sales colleagues as well as serving as the liaison between Penguin Random House and this key account.
Responsibilities:
Establish and maintain a positive and productive relationship with Barnes & Noble, Inc.Sell frontlist titles to Barnes & Noble seasonally in previews and monthly to the buying team.Run detailed sales analysis (forecast demand, track sales, define opportunities).Develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of Penguin Young Readers title base.Manage and substantially grow the Penguin Young Readers backlist at Barnes & Noble through consistent and regular backlist analysis and development of backlist programs.Develop sales programs throughout the year to increase presence of Penguin Young Readers products across all categories and channels of distribution at Barnes & Noble.Work closely with the marketing, publicity, and online departments to develop account-specific retail promotions.Work in conjunction with publicity department and Barnes & Noble to develop and promote author events.Track and manage B&N orders and inventory.Present PYR titles to Barnes & Noble in seasonal previews and monthly sales calls.Provide constructive feedback as an active participant of various in-house meetings with editorial, art, and marketing departments.Develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of competitor, consumer, and industry trends
Requirements:
Minimum 5 of years publishing sales experience, including direct account managementSuperb written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to successfully manage external and internal relationshipsCreative problem solving skills and excellent analytic skillsHighly organized and self-motivatedProven ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environmentExcellent presentation skillsProficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OutlookChildren's publishing experience is preferredRetail experience is a plusFamiliarity with SAP also a plus
The salary range for this role is $70,000 - $80,000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to company result.
