The incumbent works under the general direction of the Information Technology Manager I, Chief, Richmond Operations Services Section. The Information Technology Specialist II (ITS II) administers the most complex enterprise systems in the virtual and cloud services environments, performing the most complex and difficult tasks. The ITS II serves as the primary point-of-contact for the Infrastructure Support Richmond Campus Unit support of the Richmond Laboratory Campus (RLC) network infrastructure. The ITS II also provides backup server support. The ITS II consults with and provides guidance to information technology (IT) and program staff for IT network infrastructure administration workloads, including technical requirements, development, building, and deploying network components. The ITS II monitors, tunes and troubleshoots networks for optimal performance and system availability. The ITS II will perform duties in the System Engineering domain.

"Upon appointment to this position in the Contra Costa county, employees shall receive a 5 percent pay differential. If an employee transfers out of an eligible location or classification the differential shall be rescinded."

Telework Information

This position may be eligible for telework up to three (3) days per week and is required to report in-person to the designated headquarters office location a minimum of two (2) days per week. The amount of telework permitted is at the discretion of the Department and is subject to change, consistent with CDPH's Telework Program. All employees who telework are required to be California residents in accordance with Government Code 14200. Candidates who reside outside of the state of California may be interviewed; however, the selected candidate must have a primary residency in the state of California prior to appointment (and continue to maintain California residency) as a condition of employment. Failure to meet this requirement may result in the job offer being rescinded.

Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employee's designated headquarters office subject to regulations and bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the designated headquarters office will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.

This position provides information technology support for programs and their laboratories on CDPH's Richmond Laboratory Campus, a 29-acre site in Richmond, California.
