Zurich is currently looking for an RCIS Crop Area Claims Handling Supervisor to join our Rural Community Insurance Services (RCIS) team. RCIS is one of the leading crop insurance providers in the U.S. RCIS offers insurance protection in all 50 states through a national network of about 3,600 licensed agents. RCIS offers a wide range of private product coverages, including a diverse selection of named-peril options, supplemental and stand-alone insurance products as well as federal crop insurance plans through the United States Department of Agriculture’s Risk Management Agency. Together with RCIS agents, we protect America’s farmers and ranchers.
This Supervisor will work from their home in the designated area (district) as outlined below and will lead and direct a team of Crop Area Claims Managers and the respective crop adjusting staff to ensure accurate and timely resolutions of a wide variety of crop claims in the district. They will serve as a subject matter expert regarding product developments or enhancements to provide support and guidance and ensure compliance with regulatory policies. As a manager, they will coordinate the work activities of the team, and have responsibility for performance, development, and coaching of management staff to maximize contributions and drive employee development and operational improvements. Additionally, they will be responsible for the applicable budgets, and utilization of all respective initiatives and processes that offer efficiencies to processes.
The selected candidate must have exemplary abilities in meeting and exceeding deadlines and due dates for both them and the entire team they’re managing. They will need strong communication and presentation skills and be comfortable speaking in small or large venues (i.e. staff meetings, internal company meetings, agent meetings, industry meetings). To be successful in this role, the candidate must have the ability and desire to collaborate with the various teams and colleagues throughout ZNA and the industry.
The successful candidate may reside in Washington, North Idaho, or North Oregon.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree and 4 or more years of experience in the Claims areaOR
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6 or more years of experience in the Claims areaOR
Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 4 or more years of experience in the Claims areaAND
3 or more years of claims handling experience
Customer service experience
Experience with Microsoft Office
Knowledge of the insurance industry, claims and the insurance legal and regulatory environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in Crop Claims and technical expertise with the crops throughout the district including specialty crops: Corn, Soybeans, and Wheat.
Knowledge of Supplemental Coverages
Travel 25 – 30%
Experience collaborating across work groups.
In-depth knowledge of the insurance industry, claims and the regulatory environment.
Excellent communication skills.
Problem solving skills.
Analytical Skills.

Compensation for roles at Zurich varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by local law, Zurich provides in good faith a reasonable range of compensation for roles. For additional information about our Total Rewards, click here . Other rewards may include short term incentive bonuses and merit increases. Candidates with salary expectations outside of the range are encouraged to apply, and will be considered based on experience, skill, and education. The salary provided is a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location where the position may be filled. The starting salary range for this position is $72,800.00- $119,200.00.
