Overview BigBear.ai is seeking an Appian Architect . As an Appian Architect, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing Appian applications within IL5 and IL6 cloud environments. You will play a key role in ensuring secure, scalable, and efficient development, deployment, and support of Appian solutions. The ideal candidate will have deep experience with Appian platform architecture, server-level architecture design, AWS cloud services, and supporting ATO processes, as well as providing best practices for development teams in an Agile environment. Additionally, the Appian Architect will represent BBAI in technical meetings with government stakeholders. On-site is required 4-5 days/week as needed, in Chantilly, VA. What you will do Appian Platform Architecture: Lead the architecture design and deployment of Appian applications in IL5 and IL6 environments, ensuring compliance with cloud security standards and best practices. Appian Software Installation & Server-Level Design: Oversee the installation and configuration of Appian software in secure environments, including designing and implementing server-level architectures such as N-Tier, Docker, Kubernetes (K8s), and high availability (HA) configurations. ATO Support: Work closely with cybersecurity and compliance teams to support the ATO process, ensuring Appian systems meet all required security controls. Coding Branching & Deployment Strategy: Develop and implement effective coding branching strategies to support continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for Appian applications. Deployment Ownership: Oversee the full deployment lifecycle, including installation, configuration, integration, and testing of Appian solutions in secure environments. AWS Cloud Integration: Design and manage the integration of Appian solutions with AWS cloud services, ensuring scalable and secure cloud deployments. Technical Documentation: Take ownership of technical diagrams, architecture documentation, and deployment guides. Ensure documentation is up-to-date and accessible to development and operations teams. Agile Process Leadership: Work within Agile frameworks, ensuring alignment with Agile principles, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions iteratively and efficiently. BBAI Government Representative: Act as the official BBAI representative in technical meetings with government stakeholders, ensuring accurate communication of technical goals, project status, and recommendations. Best Practices for Developers: Provide leadership and mentorship to Appian developers, ensuring adherence to best practices for design, coding, and deployment within Appian's low-code platform. Collaboration & Communication: Serve as a bridge between development teams, system architects, and cybersecurity teams to align technical goals with organizational objectives. What you need to have Bachelor's Degree and 10 to 12 years of experience; or Master's Degree and 8 to 10 years of experience; or PhD and 5 to 7 years of experience; or (in lieu of Bachelors degree, 6 additional years of relevant experience) Clearance: Must possess and maintain a Secret clearance Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience working with Appian platform in architect or senior developer roles. Appian Software Installation & Server Architecture: Proven experience with Appian software installation and configuring server-level architectures such as N-Tier, Docker, Kubernetes (K8s), and high availability (HA) configurations. Agile Experience: Hands-on experience working in Agile environments, with strong knowledge of Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban. Federal/DoD Project Experience: Experience working on Federal or DoD projects, including familiarity with related security and compliance requirements. Security: Experience deploying applications in IL5/IL6 environments and supporting the RMF/ATO process. Secret clearance or ability to obtain. Deployment: Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, coding branching strategies, and automated deployment processes.
