Remote

Cloud Engineer

to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position can be worked remotely. The qualified applicant will become part of Peraton's Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Infrastructure Managed Services (IMS) Program, for the US Coast Guard (CG). This initiative is modernizing and consolidating the operational environment under a common technology framework in order to better support the services provided to CGs customers. As part of the program, the Cloud Engineer will be responsible for proactively leading architecture decision making and work as part of a team designing, automating, and deploying services to AWS.About You:You help ensure project success and client satisfaction.

You enjoy collaborative teams and pairing with team members as well as counterparts from your client and members of other firms or entities in the CG ecosystem of partners.You like to work alongside, and learn from, lean and agile leaders.You are a creative problem solver who is comfortable with uncertainty.You are a curious and keen learner who thrives on enhancing your (and our) practices and knowledge.Day to Day Work Responsibilities:Work with engineering teams on a wide variety of AWS projects, including migration, containerization and transformationWrite infrastructure as code; develops, maintains, and deploys infrastructure as code using CI/CD pipelinesPerform AWS environment troubleshooting and setupAdministrate automated deployments and scripting using Bash, PowerShell and/or PythonParticipate in work sessions with clientsDesign complex systems using a hybrid cloud architecture and microservices.Develop automated unit and integration tests and incorporate them in CI/CD pipelines.Create and implement automated configuration and deployment processes to enhance the performance, accessibility, and ease of management of platforms and related services.Utilize scripting tools to craft self-service capabilities within the Platform as a Service (PaaS), fostering a seamless developer experience for development teams.Collaborate closely with developers and service line owners to diagnose and troubleshoot problems, ensuring smooth operations.#USCGIMSQualifications

Basic Qualifications:Minimum of 5 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 3 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 7 years with AS/AA; Minimum of 9 years with HS Diploma or equivalent.U.S. Citizenship required; Must have active Secret clearance or higherExpertise in cloud computing and AWS provisioningExperience administering AWS and Azure Gov Cloud environments in compliance with DoD standardsExperience managing AWS services (EC2, RDS, S3, VPC, CloudFormation)Experience with Docker and KubernetesProficient in Code (IAC) toolsSkilled in developing scripting languages (PowerShell, Python BASH and SHELL)Familiarity with networking concepts and Load Balancers, DNS, NACLs, SSL, Firewalls, NAT, and NTPBackground in DevOps and GitLab, Harness, OpenShift, and/or TanzuAbility to obtain a Security+ certification within 30 days of hire (current certification strongly preferred)Preferred Qualifications:Experience handling large-scale production systems and adeptness in resolving productionSubject Matter Expertise in Linux Operating Systems administrationExpertise in container orchestration, specifically KubernetesFamiliarity with Department of Defense (DoD) operations, particularly within a DoD "Software Factory" context.Commercial Software Factory context is highly valuedA degree (BA/BS) in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experienceProfessional Certifications such as RHCE, Linux+, MCSA, AWS Solutions Architect, AWS Developer, Security+, CISSP, and CCNA

$86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
