JOB REQUIREMENTS: REPORTS TO: Engineering Supervisor FUNCTION: Perform technical engineering duties for application and design of industrial and municipal equipment. Work with sales application team to determine customer needs and upon order placement create design packages ready for release to production. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Examine and analyze new applications of products to determine feasibility of application, operation, and manufacturing, including: Evaluation/selection of purchased components; integration of products, etc.; code/standard conformance; environmental packaging, etc. Prepare proposal and manufacturing drawings in SolidWorks or SolidWorks Electrical, bills-of-materials in ERP (Enterprise resource planning) software, quality documentation, and other data as required for production order packages. Update existing Installation Operation and Maintenance Manuals for order packages. Check own and other\'s drawings for accuracy of dimension, detail, fits and tolerances. Apply applicable codes and standards as required (may include ASME, IBC, NEMA, ATEX, ANSI, TEMA, API, CE UL/CSA). Communicate with Production, Purchasing, and Manufacturing to ensure drawings optimize production and purchasing demands, including writing Engineering Changes. Assist in the testing and troubleshooting of products in the shop and field. All responsibilities of Designer II and other duties as assigned by supervisor. PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS: Proficiency with computers, and 3D CAD design. Drawings and documents that are consistently accurate, complete, understandable, and finished in reasonable time. Intermediate knowledge of products, materials, codes, and standards, to make correct decisions where independent judgments are needed. Meticulous attention to details to ensure: Accuracy of design, proper material selection, serviceability, reasonable cost, and completeness for manufacturing and purchasing. Efficiently uses time by planning work and requesting assistance to meet deadlines. JOB SPECIFICATIONS: Education/Training: Two-year technical degree and applicable experience with the design and application of similar products Experience: Five years of experience in a technical capacity with product design responsibilities. Electrical Specialist Manufacturing (electrical assembly, quality) Current electrical code knowledge (NEC, CE, IEC) and applicable symbols Thorough understanding of panel wiring and other wiring techniques (UL 508A) Ability to perform calculations required for sizing electrical protective devices Some experience with PLC programming, and tracing a circuit Ability to interpret electrical datasheets from product catalogs Skills, Knowledge & Other Requirements: Demonstrates A Player Competencies: Aptitude, Alliance, Agility, Accountability, Awareness & Anticipation.
