Discovery Live Events Operations Team is seeking a Supervisor of Live Events Operations to oversee the day-to-day preparation, planning and execution of live event sports and entertainment broadcasts across linear and digital platforms. The Supervisor should be passionate and knowledgeable about Live Events Operations with experience in Master Control and Live Events Planning. We seek an enthusiastic and agile problem-solver with exceptional execution and attention to detail. Excitement and interest in various sporting and live events around the world is a big plus. This Supervisor will work collaboratively with internal and external partner groups including Master Control, Commercial Operations, Strategic Marketing, Programming, Production, Bookings, Digital, and Global Broadcast Engineering. This role is a 24/7, holidays, nights, and weekends position. Your Role Accountabilities... Act as Event Supervisor for On-Air Live Events. Often for more than one event at the same time.
Oversee all logistics for event execution Make last minute decisions to recover air and decide on contingency needs Communicate all pertinent information before, during, and after high profile events Complete post-event schedule normalization, including timing adjustments Escalate live event discrepancies and issues as needed Be forward-facing with clients and partners as needed Fill in for Live ADs or Live Operators as needed
Provide leadership, guidance, and set positive examples for team members Collaborate with internal and external partners, including global partners Work in accordance with network and digital clients with a professional, poised demeaner to help build and foster relationships and understand live event needs. Participate in planning, prepping, scheduling, and testing for live events Assist the Live Events Manager with team training initiatives, including development and delivery of training to staff Participate in interview and selection processes for new staff positions Actively participate in developing positive employee relations and team fellowship All other duties as assigned Qualifications & Experiences... Minimum 4 years of experience in a Broadcast Operations/Master Control environment Minimum 3 years working on live events Minimum 1 year managing teams College degree or equivalent relevant experience Ability and desire to work under pressure and in a 24x7 environment Ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a team Broadcast playout automation (or similar) experience Strong written and oral communication Desirable Requirements Fluency in Spanish Knowledge of Global Sports Interest in technology and learning new things How We Get Things Done… This last bit is probably the most important!
