MITRE's Data Engineering & Knowledge Management Department is seeking a hands-on team leader who is passionate about data to re-imagine ways to make our structured and unstructured data available for reuse across MITRE systems on-prem and in cloud environments. Successful candidates will be highly motivated and able to share their experience in cloud data design, along with their knowledge of database technologies and data virtualization platforms. This role will be pivotal in ensuring the seamless operation of our data systems and driving our data strategy forward.

Job Highlights

Manage on-premises and cloud databases and, data virtualization platforms.

Lead and mentor a team of data professionals, providing guidance, technical oversight, and training as needed.

Support and facilitate ongoing efforts to migrate on-premises workloads and data to cloud platforms.

Develop and implement data virtualization strategies to improve data access, integration, and aggregation.

Ensure the security, reliability, and scalability of our data.

Maintain audit compliance with InfoSec, DFARS, CMMC, and other business requirements.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design enterprise solutions and resolve data-related issues.

Stay up to date with the latest trends and changes in cloud platform offerings, database technologies, data virtualization and related fields.

Basic Qualifications

Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.

3+ years of experience managing data in the cloud, especially Microsoft Azure.

Broad knowledge of data virtualization and database technologies.

Proved experience in leading and managing a team of technology professionals.

Preferred Qualifications

Proven experience in a leadership role with a focus on data management and operations. Includes experience building, retaining, mentoring, and growing geographically distributed staff.

Hands on experience with SQL Server, Oracle, Postgres, MySQL, MongoDB, and Denodo,

Experience managing structured and unstructured data stores.

Experience deploying cloud services using Terraform and Infrastructure-as-Code.

Capable of defining and executing on a strategic vision.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.

Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
