Heluna Health dba Public Health Foundation Enterprises (PHFE) invites applications for a fulltime Clinical Studies Recruiter position. Bridge HIV is a grant-funded research unit affiliated with the San Francisco Department of Public Health and the University of California San Francisco. Bridge HIV has been searching for new and innovative ways to fight HIV/AIDS since the onset of the epidemic in the early 1980s. The Bridge HIV Investigators are global leaders in HIV vaccine and prevention science, epidemiology of HIV infection, HIV medication adherence, combination HIV prevention strategies, and HIV research training methods. Under the direct supervision of the Community Programs Manager, this position is responsible for recruiting volunteers to participate in HIV prevention studies, COVID-19 studies, STI and investigator-initiated studies. The recruiter will help create and implement recruitment and community engagement strategies. Some of these strategies include field recruitment, phone screening, building and maintaining relationships with community partners and managing special projects/events. This is an entry or junior level position for an individual interested in pursuing a career in public health, clinical research and/or community engagement.

This is a temporary grant-funded, full-time, benefitted position. Employment is provided by Heluna Health.

Pay rate: $36.33 per hour

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Recruitment

Following the weekly recruitment schedule, carry out field assignments in support of clinical study recruitment objectives and targets

Conduct participant phone screens to determine individuals’ eligibility to volunteer for clinical studies and answer questions about HIV prevention and COVID-19 science and clinical research

Staff recruitment events (e.g. health clinics, street fairs, special events) as assigned; serve as lead recruiter on assigned events

Collaborate with Community Programs Manager to identify and pursue opportunities for in person and digital community engagement and education

In collaboration with clinical staff, conduct face-to-face group screens and information sessions as needed

Conduct recruitment duties in Spanish as needed

Data Management

Enter recruitment contacts into the clinical study participant database (Alfie) in a timely manner following data collection and adhering to study protocol requirements

Contribute to meetings related to Alfie data management as needed

Maintain confidentiality of participant information

Administration

Monitor recruitment schedule and update Community Programs Manager and staff members on changes to own schedule, as appropriate

Participate in weekly team meetings and weekly supervisory meetings with the Community Programs Manager

Participate in weekly clinical/operations meetings and collaborate on health equity targeted projects

Complete timesheets on a daily basis

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Strong commitment to anti-racism and health equity

High level of proficiency in Spanish required and employee will use Spanish language skills as needed when performing job duties

Excellent verbal and written communication and strong interviewing skills

A confident, self-starter who is intellectually curious, able to learn complex, scientific concepts, and capable of explaining those concepts to diverse, public audiences

Understanding of social media platforms and metrics preferred

Detailed oriented, with strong planning/organizational skills and the ability to work well independently as well as collaboratively

A strong personal code of ethics and integrity and previous experience maintaining confidential data/information

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Willing to regularly work some nights and weekends

Education/Experience

Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred

Understanding of social media platforms and metrics preferred

Experience in HIV prevention education and/or clinical studies recruitment preferred

Experience in HIV testing and/or counseling work preferred

General Office Setting; Indoors, Temperature Controlled (approx. 40%)

Recruitment Venues such as clinics, health fairs, events, clubs, and related locations in the Bay Area (approx. 60%)
