We are looking for a detail-oriented Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence Quality/Data Analyst to ensure the quality and reliability of our student data warehouse systems. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of databases, ETL processes, and data validation techniques. This role involves performing data quality assessments, creating and executing test cases, and collaborating with the development team to optimize data integrity and performance.Key Responsibilities:Quality Assurance :Develop and execute comprehensive test plans and test cases to detect issues in data warehousing systems.
ETL Testing :Validate ETL processes, ensuring accurate extraction, transformation, and loading of data into the data warehouse.Conduct testing for reports, dashboards, and semantic layers using tools like Cognos and Tableau.
Data Validation :Perform data quality checks to verify the accuracy, consistency, and completeness of data.
Automation :Develop and maintain automated testing scripts for data validation and ETL processes.
Collaboration :Work closely with Data Engineers, Developers, Business Analysts, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and resolve data quality issues.
Defect Tracking :Log, track, and report defects; collaborate with development teams for timely resolution.
Documentation :Maintain comprehensive documentation of test plans, test cases, and testing procedures.
Compliance :Ensure data warehouse processes comply with departmental standards.
Required Skills and Qualifications:Proficient in SQL and experience with data warehouse coding.Strong Microsoft Word and Excel skills; understanding of XML is a plus.Familiarity with star schema and data warehouse structures, including tables, indexes, facts, dimensions, and bridge tables.Experience with report writing in Cognos is preferred.Knowledge of Tableau/Power BI is a plus but not required.Ability to evaluate and analyze data related to business requirements.Prior experience in a higher education technology environment is a plus.Experience in designing and executing test scripts and test scenarios.Ability to coordinate with team members during testing and validation of new applications and functions.Capable of extracting data from a data warehouse and using comparative analysis to ensure data quality.Demonstrated aptitude for quickly adapting to new technologies.Strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to work both independently and as part of a team.Committed to continuous improvement of internal processes and procedures.Ability to work with minimal supervision and recognize when extra hours are necessary.Assist the Data Team in defining and documenting Common Business Data Definitions.Strong analytical problem-solving and documentation skills.Effective communication with users.Ability to prioritize conflicting demands and execute project tasks within established schedules.Demonstrates enthusiasm and commitment toward the job and mission of the organization.Self-starter capable of solving complex problems and performing analyses without supervision.Education:Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline such as Computer Science, with 2 years of relevant technology experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.A total of 5 years of relevant technology experience is preferred.
