The Controls Engineer III leads and coordinates control system projects within the plant to meet departmental and project objectives, with an emphasis on quality and safety standards. This role is critical in designing, evaluating, and improving machine control systems, aiming to optimize resource use and exceed customer expectations. Apply now for immediate consideration

Hybrid position (3 days at home 2 days onsite)

Primary Responsibilities:Provide production time, staffing, and cost estimates to aid in management planning and decision-making.Partner with design staff to enhance product design and tooling for production, upholding high ethical standards.Analyze equipment improvements and design layouts for optimal operational efficiency.Maintain a strong customer focus in project planning and execution, setting high standards for team performance.Collaborate with management and engineering teams on production capabilities, schedules, and improvements.Design, debug, and modify PLC, robot, HMI, and printer control programs.Create or update control circuits (electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic) using software such as AutoCAD.Assist with Project Authorization Requests and purchase requisitions to keep projects on track.Develop, assess, and improve machine control methods by applying knowledge in equipment design, materials, and manufacturing processes.Support the design, specification, and implementation of plant equipment, emphasizing customer needs and production objectives.Provide supervision and guidance to team members and vendors as required, fostering clear communication and mentorship.Use statistical methods to forecast machine capacity, supporting continuous improvement.Lead engineering activities related to controls, ensuring projects align with quality and safety standards.Travel off-site as needed to manage installation and startup of equipment, ensuring operational and safety standards.Oversee assigned projects, efficiently managing tasks and resources to achieve project goals.Work autonomously with initiative, aligning with departmental and organizational objectives.Train team members, promoting a safe, ethical, and productive work environment.Work with machine vendors to procure equipment and materials that meet specification and quality requirements.

Qualifications:Skilled in PLC, HMI, and robot programming.Ability to manage multiple projects independently with strong initiative.Proficient in computers, machining, assembly practices, and tooling.Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and robotic systems.Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent experience.Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.5-7 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, with automotive experience preferred.
