DutiesThe DOD is responsible for the revenue arm of the organization, including grant writing, solicitation, and the cultivation of new funders to increase revenue, along with the stewardship of current donors for donor retention. The ideal candidate will be an outgoing relationship-builder responsible for all fundraising and development strategies related to the organization. The candidate should be experienced in identifying prospects and building a pipeline of funders to help accelerate financial growth. The candidate should also be able to create and implement specific fund development activities in Baltimore City, Maryland. This includes corporate giving strategies, researching private foundation RFPs, partnerships within the surrounding community of South Baltimore, targeted prospecting & outreach, completing an annual direct mail campaign, and overseeing an annual fundraising gala event. The individual must be able to work in a trauma-informed environment and have a passion for homeless women and children. Experience working with Baltimore City’s Mayor’s Office of Homeless Services Journey Home, Homeless Management Information System (HMIS), and City, State, and local government to develop program support is preferable.ResponsibilitiesResearch potential sources of and apply for grants and public funding.Establishes fundraising objectives for the organization, setting one-year, five-year, and longer-term goals.Maintains a list of potential financial donors, including corporations, foundations, and individuals.Produces relevant and informative fundraising literature for distribution to previous donors and the public.Oversees the fundraising process and maintains records of receipts and funds disbursements.Plans fundraising events that effectively communicate the purposes of the organization.Performs other related duties as assigned.Required Skills/Abilities: Extensive knowledge of fundraising strategies and principles. Excellent management and supervisory skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills. Knowledge of tax planning principles and techniques that favor charitable giving. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software. Education and Experience: A bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Accounting, or a similar field is required. Five years of experience in fundraising for a nonprofit organization is highly preferred. Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
