Our client is looking for a contract Technical Designer to join the team through early January40 hours weeklyOnsite Monday - Thursday (4 days) and remote on FridayOffice in Costa Mesa.Contract through mid-January 2025Hourly rate dependent on experienceThe Technical Designer plays a crucial role in transforming design concepts into finished products. This position requires a combination of garment technical expertise, problem-solving abilities in fit and construction, and strong communication skills. They will manage all technical specifications, measurements, fit comments, and grading for their assigned product categories from development through production.POSITION DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIESExpertise in understanding fit, patterns, construction, measuring and evaluating factory patterns for production feasibility.Manage/ maintain Tech Packs that include BOM, label call outs and construction details.Manage/Maintain all specs and grades from the initial setup through production (Proto's, PPs, Size Sets, TOPs) in Excel and Full Circle.Prepare and measure samples prior to fitting, proactively reviewing potential fit and construction issues in advance.Collaborate with design and production to address fit and construction issues, recommending solutions and adjustments.Participate in fit sessions on a live model or dress form with the design team.Create and update fit comments in Full Circle based on fit and sample evaluations through diagrams or pattern corrections.Communicate all fit and construction related comments to both the vendor and internal teams within development and production timelines.Understand how to read and correct patterns either through software or via other methods (taking photos, drawing on patterns, etc.)Complete understanding and knowledge of grading.Organized with time management and attention to detail.QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE / SKILLS / COMPETENCIES5+ years of experience in tech design, patternmaking, or related field and/or equivalent work experience.Must have strong knowledge of fit, measurements, garment construction, and grading as well as the ability to effectively communicate fit corrections to overseas vendors.Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams (design, product development, and production) as well as overseas vendors.Super organized and detail oriented with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.Proficiency in Google/Google Drive/Gmail, Microsoft Excel, and Adobe Illustrator.Knowledge of computer patternmaking in 2D and or 3D is plus.Knowledge of PLM systems or Full Circle is a plus.
