Jr Security Engineer

Job Overview:We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Junior Security Engineer to join our IT Security team. The Junior Security Engineer will assist with the implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of our security systems, ensuring that our organization's data and infrastructure are protected from cyber threats.Key Responsibilities:Security Monitoring & Incident Response:Assist in monitoring security tools (SIEM, IDS/IPS, firewalls) for potential security incidents.Investigate and respond to security alerts and incidents, following established protocols.Analyze logs and network traffic to identify abnormal patterns or potential threats.Vulnerability Management:Participate in regular vulnerability scans and assist with patch management.Support efforts to mitigate identified vulnerabilities by working closely with senior engineers and other IT teams.System Security:Help in the configuration and maintenance of security tools, including firewalls, antivirus, and data encryption systems.Ensure systems comply with security policies and standards.Security Audits & Compliance:Support internal and external security audits, ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).Assist in the preparation of reports documenting security issues and incidents.Security Awareness & Training:Help in educating users about security policies and best practices, ensuring compliance across the organization.Contribute to the development and distribution of security awareness content.Research & Development:Stay updated with the latest trends, tools, and techniques in cybersecurity.Assist in evaluating new security technologies and make recommendations to improve current systems.Qualifications:Educational Background:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or related field.Equivalent experience in cybersecurity or IT may be considered.Technical Skills:Foundational knowledge of security principles, network security, and endpoint protection.Familiarity with firewalls, IDS/IPS, antivirus solutions, and SIEM tools.Basic understanding of encryption, authentication protocols, and security policies.Experience with scripting or automation (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) is a plus.Soft Skills:Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent attention to detail.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Preferred Certifications:CompTIA Security+Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC)What We Offer:Competitive salary and benefits package.Opportunities for professional growth and training in cybersecurity.Collaborative and supportive team environment.
