The school's faculty and staff are engaged in a broad array of high-quality undergraduate and graduate programs, and significant research, in addition to a wide range of community and professional service organizations.Learn more about CSU Long Beach here: https://www.csulb.edu/about-csulbThe anticipated yearly salary range for this position is: $65,000 - $73,000 based on experience.About the role:As the Prospect Research Specialist, you will play a crucial role in supporting the university's fundraising efforts by managing key donor prospects. You'll collaborate with development teams to ensure prospect management is efficient and systems are updated regularly. Reporting to the Associate Director of Prospect Research & Data, your work will focus on analyzing and compiling essential donor information to aid outreach efforts to alumni, parents, and potential contributors. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in higher education by utilizing your research and analytical expertise.What You'll Do:Prospect Management:Manage and assign all major gift prospects, ensuring portfolios are current and accurate for both major and non-major gifts.

Facilitate the assignment of prospects across the development team and lead prospect management meetings.Track proposals, solicitation activities, and provide regular updates on moves management and prospect activity.Collaborate with the Development Team to document moves management actions, update portfolios, and conduct regular portfolio reviews.Maintain comprehensive tracking data, ensuring accurate record-keeping for all donor interactions, assignments, and clearances.Prospect Research:Conduct in-depth research on potential donors, utilizing online databases and various tools to identify wealth, philanthropy, and affiliations to the university.Prepare detailed research profiles on individuals, corporations, and foundations, supporting major gift fundraising strategies.Collaborate with the Prospect Research Data Analyst to conduct data mining and wealth screenings to identify new donor prospects.Regularly update donor records with biographical and demographic information, ensuring all data is timely and accurate.Support the discovery of potential funding opportunities for university programs by researching grants and foundation giving patterns.Collaboration & Training:Work alongside the Division Operations Team to coordinate office activities. This group coordinates all activity for both the Development Information Systems Office and the Prospect Management & Research Office.Training colleagues and development staff on appropriate information-gathering techniques, interpretation of data, and providing development staff with the tools and resources necessary to complete preliminary research.Training staff in the use of our Database Ellucian Advance and the process for entering contact reports, navigating the database and prospect management information.Minimum Qualifications:Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in business administration, communications, or related field.Three years in development, data entry/analysis, or related experience is required.Familiarity with basic fundraising techniques.Familiarity with biographic and financial research techniques using both printed and on-line sourcesPreferred Qualifications:Prospect research and/or prospect management experience in a charitable fundraising environment or academic fundraising experience is preferred.Preferred knowledge and understanding of SEC documents.Why a career with CSU is for You:The CSU system offers employees a comprehensive benefits package typically worth 30-35% of your base salary.
