Job Description

AbbVie Patient Services is dedicated to offering best-in-class support to patients through personalized assistance, education, and resources. Our Access and Reimbursement team develops and executes strategies to ensure patients can afford and access their medication quickly and consistently. This role is customer-focused, relationship-oriented, team-based, analytical, and creative.

Purpose

The Director of Access & Reimbursement Strategy develops and leads strategies to optimize access to AbbVie’s products. Collaborating with Access & Reimbursement leadership, Payer, Trade, and Hub teams, the Director oversees initiatives that enhance AbbVie's patient support programs, access strategies, and reimbursement programs. These efforts aim to boost internal agility and improve patient outcomes.

Responsibility Summary

Develop Access and Reimbursement Strategies: Lead the development of comprehensive access and reimbursement strategies in partnership with APS, Market Access, Trade and Hub teams, to maximize patient access to our products while ensuring financial viability.

Execution: Oversees key, high-visibility strategic initiatives and drives change management and stakeholder engagement across a diverse and highly matrixed Patient Services organization ensuring prioritized deliverables and milestones are met within budget and time parameters.

Performance Measurement/Impact: Partner with MABI, BTS, FPAT, and FAS leadership to establish KPIs for assessing access and reimbursement strategy effectiveness. Implement and manage quarterly business reviews across all Access and Reimbursement teams and functions in partnership with the Senior Director of Access and Reimbursement.

Market Knowledge: Stays informed about changes in healthcare policy, reimbursement regulations, and market trends.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with and align objectives to internal stakeholders (including Marketing, Sales, Medical Affairs, and Legal, Quality, OEC, SPDO, BTS, etc.).

Stakeholder Management: Represents Access & Reimbursement in partnering with key businesses and senior leaders to drive alignment between business strategy and key stakeholders.

Continuous sitting for prolonged periods (more than 2 consecutive hours in an 8 hr day) is required

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree required: Business Administration, Technical (Medical and or Engineering) or other relevant field of study

Master’s degree in business administration preferred

15+ years access and reimbursement or related field required.

7+ years supervisory experience

Strong Project management

Ability to demonstrate leadership in a matrix environment.

Exceptional communication skills

Ability to work with agility is key

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.​

Salary: $151,500 - $288,000
